Coronation Street’s Mason Radcliffe actor breaks silence after death exit as co-stars rush to support

Actor Luca Toolan was flooded with praise and support from his ITV soap co-stars after viewers watched Mason die

Coronation Street star Luca Toolan has shared his own personal message following his exit from the show in dramatic scenes.

The actor was flooded with praise and support from his ITV soap co-stars after viewers watched Mason Radcliffe die after being stabbed by his brothers in a horrifying attack.

Corrie fans have recently watched Mason trying to turn things around after he was eventually served justice for his cruel bullying campaign against Liam Connor last year. But he’s struggled to escape his brothers – Matty and Logan.

The siblings have been determined to cause havoc on the cobbles, and not just for Mason, but the teen decided to turn on his family, who have been seen taunting and beating him previously, after DS Lisa Swain showed Mason photographs taken at the crime scene of her late partner Becky’s death and revealed that his brothers were behind the murder.

He set about helping DS Swain and after getting his brothers questioned, he prepared to leave having accepted a job offer from Stu Carpenter in Germany. But as he asked Dylan Wilson for help in searching his brothers’ flat for a box of photographs for him to take with him, they were caught by the troubled pair.

Panicked, Liam and Mason ran but the former was punched to the ground before the latter jumped from a height in a bid to escape, only to twist his ankle and hinder his getaway. Viewers then discovered Mason bleeding before it was revealed that Liam had brought the knife he’d been hiding for months in a bid to help save Mason.

Scared, he threatened Matty and Logan, only for Logan to take the knife and as Mason jumped to Liam’s defence, Matty pushed his younger sibling in Logan’s direction and right into the zombie knife. It was Abi Webster was then the first at the scene to find Mason bleeding and did her best to stop the flow of blood before the ambulance showed up, which was delayed due to a hoax call.

Betsy Swain arrived, and she and Abi assured a scared Mason that he would be alright. However, the attempts to save his life ultimately failed and it was confirmed that Mason had died as a result of his injuries.

Following the dramatic scenes, Luca took to Instagram with some snaps from behind-the-scenes of his exit and shared a message to mark the end of his time on the cobbles as he said: “Thank you.”

The actor continued: “What an honour and privilege it’s been to be apart of this show, and to be trusted with this story. Truly. I’ve met some of the most incredible friends I’ll cherish for life that have been beyond supportive and loving. I’m at a loss for words to quantify what they mean and what this experience has meant to me.
