He has has been a challenging character in Coronation Street, with rollercoaster storylines seeing him acting as a bully, criminal and even feeling some regret. The young lad has said he wants to change his life around, and now ITV bosses has confirmed it won’t be that easy for Mason.
Starting the new year off, Mason (Luca Toolan) will form an unlikely alliance with none other than DS Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers). She approaches him with strong suspicions that his brothers, Matty and Logan, had something to do with the death of her wife Becky.
Previous episodes have shown Lisa and her daughter Betsy’s (Sydney Martin) struggle with the death of Lisa’s partner as she was in the middle of a police shift when it happened. Recently, things became more suspicious when Matty had a confrontation with Lisa at the police station and made a weighted comment which hinted that he knew something about Becky’s demise. From early January, we see Lisa search for answers by confronting Matty at the precinct.
Lisa can’t help but get tough with Matty as she relentlessly questions him about his whereabouts the night Becky died. Matty doesn’t give in, and Kit (Jacob Roberts) appears to break them up.
Kit warns Lisa about her spontaneous questioning, due to it being completely secret from the authorities. Not giving in, Lisa goes back to the drawing room.
Mason is risking wrath from his brothers Matty and Logan
Instead, she corners Mason on the Cobbles and shows him some pictures from the night of the death. She insists that Matty and Logan were driving the car that killed Becky. Mason looks genuinely shocked, something which inspires Lisa to continue.
Perhaps unexpectedly, Mason agrees to search Matty’s flat to see if he can locate any strange information. Agreeing to help, Dylan Wilson (Liam McCheyne) watches the door.
The once bully and victim work together and locate a strange object. They both head back to the police station to find Lisa.
There, they hand over a WWII helmet that Mason found at the flat. They seem to believe this could prove Mason’s brothers guilty in Becky’s death, but how will Masion’s brothers respond if they find out what he’s done?
