Coronation Street’s Leanne ‘set to kill’ as victim ‘revealed’ – and Gail needs to watch out

Coronation Street fans are convinced Leanne Battersby will become a killer on the ITV soap, after a dark twist

Coronation Street seems to be hinting at a deadly plot twist for Leanne Battersby.

The character, played by Jane Danson, has been a fixture on the famous cobbles since 1997. Arriving with the rest of the Battersby family, Leanne has become one of the soap’s most cherished characters.

She’s certainly had her fair share of dramatic storylines. Particularly recently, as Leanne has experienced a tumultuous year on the street. Viewers will remember how she was drawn into the enigmatic ‘self-help’ group, The Institute, led by the ominous Rowan Cunliffe (Emrhys Cooper).

Leanne became deeply involved in the cult, prioritising The Institute over her family and loved ones, including fiance Nick (Ben Price) and sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor).

Leanne is trying to bring down Nick and Toyah

However, Nick and Toyah ended up having an affair – something Rowan used to blackmail Nick. In ‘true’ soap opera style, Leanne discovered the truth about Toyah and Nick, leaving her devastated and furious, reports Plymouth Live.

Recently, Toyah and Nick reignited their relationship – and despite their attempts to keep it hidden, Leanne found out. Determined to make them pay, Leanne has sworn revenge.

But things took a dark turn during Wednesday’s episode (December 4). Spotting Nick fixing fairy lights, Leanne sneaked over to the plug – and switched it on. She then watched with a smirk as Nick was electrocuted. Luckily, this turned out to be a figment of Leanne’s imagination, and she quickly snapped back to reality.

Corrie enthusiasts are speculating that Leanne Battersby might take a dark turn, with some predicting she could become the next serial killer on the cobbles. The speculation comes after a ‘clue’ was spotted in the show, leading to fears that Nick Tilsley might be in danger.

On a Corrie Facebook fan group, one viewer posted a picture of Leanne and commented: “The next serial killer. She’s on the edge, the next serial killer on the street.”

This sparked agreement among other fans, with replies such as: “Wouldn’t be surprised,” and others expressing concern for Nick with comments like: “Poor Nick! ” Another fan speculated: “That was quite dark thinking from Leanne. Could she try to kill Nick and Toyah.”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
