Leanne Battersby will come face to face with conman Rowan in the courtroom next week, but actor Emrhys Cooper warns there’s still some dark twists to come on thee Cobbles
There’s trouble on the Cobbles next week as Leanne is set to come face to face with her old manipulator, Rowan Cunliffe.
The conman, who owned the Institute supposedly dedicated to improving the mental health of the member, will stand trial over allegations of fraud and blackmail. Rowan (Emrhys Cooper) got Leanne (Jane Danson) – and by extension her family – involved in a sinister cult. This contributed to the breakdown of Leanne’s engagement with Nick (Ben Price) and the loss of Amy Barlow’s inheritance (Elle Mulvaney).
Leanne is determined to see justice handed to Rowan after not seeing him for months. However, she cannot help but feel rage when she sets her eyes upon him over the court room in new Corrie spoilers.
Next week, the trial begins and Leanne, Amy and Nick are each called to give evidence against him. However, Rowan is not going down without a fight and his top of the range barrister is set to grill all three victims.
Rowan is able to cast doubt over their claims and Leanne seems to get angry that things are going in his direction. The ever smug Rowan can be seen giving Leanne a smug look, which rallies her anger even further.
Leanne immediately loses her temper and speaks her mind to the entire court, causing the case to be adjourned. The fate of Rowan is not yet confirmed, but ITV suggest this is the last time the conman will appear on the silver screen.
However, Emrhys said his character is not going out without a bang and still has a few tricks up his sleeves. Speaking to Digital Spy, he warns of a huge “twist” coming our way. He also said Rowan has not completed his “naughty business just yet”.
Despite his harsh nature, Emrhys said it was great fun playing the character. Rowan was last on screens when he was arrested after Leanne discovered dodgy evidence on his laptop. He tried to frame himself as the victim of a cult, but Leanne called the police on him.
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
