Coronation Street’s Jack Webster has been a staple on the soap for years – but the teenager looks nothing like how fans will remember when he was on TV as a smaller child
Coronation Street’s Jack Webster is a firm favourite on the soap – but he’s no longer the tiny tot that we all grew to love and adore.
The teen star, played by Kyran Bowes, looks nothing like how fans will remember when he was on TV as a smaller child.
Viewers will know that Jack is the son of Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) and Molly (Vicky Binns) after the pair had an affair while he was married to Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor). Molly was also with Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) at the time.
Molly gave birth to Jack in 2010 but she tragically died on the cobbles that same year, with Tyrone believing Jack to be his. She lost her life after she and her son became trapped in the shop following the street’s horror tram crash.
The truth eventually came out – with Jack now living with Kevin and Abi Franklin (Sally Carman). And over the years, Jack has been involved in several big storylines, from abduction to a recent shock arrest.
Most notably in 2018, Jack was at the centre of a heartbreaking issue-based storyline where Jack developed sepsis. As a result, he had to have part of his leg amputated.
In real life, actor Kyran didn’t have to have his leg amputated, with the soap using Hollywood-style green-screen technology instead. They were able to digitally erase Jack’s lower leg with the use of a special sock.
The role of Jack has been recast several times over the years. Current actor Kyran took on the role in 2016, taking over from twins Maddox and Jaxon Beswick. And Kyran looks unrecognisable compared to when he first joined.
In August 2023, Kyran revealed that he had been taking a step back from Corrie to focus on his GCSEs. He said at the time: “Hey all. Sorry for the absence. I took some time away to concentrate on my studies.
“Happy to say I’m back and even happier to say I passed my GCSES. Hard work and perseverance really does pay off. Now it’s time to celebrate.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
