Coronation Street’s ‘hell-bent’ David Platt ‘will get own back’ on Shona as aftermath of cheating scandal teased

Actor Jack P Shepherd has teased the lengths his legendary lengths his ITV soap character could go to

Coronation Street star Jack P Shepherd has confirmed David Platt will ‘get his own back’ on his cheating wife Shona as he teased the aftermath of the scandal.

As fans of the ITV soap have previously seen, trouble was certain to be on the horizon for the couple as soon as David started sneaking around intercepting letters sent through the post and deleting emails from Shona’s laptop before it was revealed she was being contacted by Weatherfield Prison about her son, Clayton Hibbs, who killed David’s late wife, Kylie Platt.

After weeks of lying to a despairing Shona, when she was told Clayton was in hospital after an attempt to take his own life and couldn’t understand why she never heard from the prison about Clayton wanting to speak to her, the truth came out.

David was seen confiding in Max about how he intercepted visiting orders that Clayton had sent from prison and confirmed he’d visited him behind his wife’s back.

Max seemingly agreed to keep David’s secret but all that changed when Shona stepped up her desperate attempts to get answers from the prison governor and as she headed to the jail, she lost her temper by shoving the governor when he wouldn’t reveal the truth about the missing emails and Clayton’s visitor.

A confrontation between the married couple later ensued but David didn’t appear sympathetic and didn’t think Shona should care about Clayton either. The row was interrupted as DC Kit Green arrived to arrest Shona on suspicion of assaulting the prison governor. Shona was later released without charge, but she refused to go home to David and asked cabbie Steve McDonald to drive her back into town instead.

It wasn’t until the end of last Friday night’s (December 6) trip to the cobbles that it was revealed that Shona had in fact slept with Kit, having taken the morning after pill earlier, which was found by her husband, who accused her of sleeping with Adam Barlow after she crashed at his following her liaison with Kit.

However, it won’t be a one-off as Julia Goulding, who plays show, recently revealed how her character does go back for round two with Kit – but is she capable of an affair? “Well, I mean have you seen him!” she joked when speaking to the Manchester Evening News.

“Would she have an affair? I suppose it depends how good that night was! I think because it was a revenge, she’s obviously tempted because she goes back to the hotel room so, it must have been a really good night! She pops her anorak on and off she goes!”

Meanwhile, Jack has said that if David is to find out about his wife’s infidelity, which in soapland is often the case, he won’t take it lightly. “I think he’ll react in a way where he’ll have to try and get his own back somehow,” he told us. “And he’ll have to try and do it in a clever way.

“With Kit being six foot taller than David, he won’t be able to take him on physically. It’ll have to be something sort of mentally. He’ll do something to f*** his life up somehow. That’s what he’ll do.”

And with his mother Gail Platt’s exit on the horizon, it looks like David will be even more protective of his family in the coming weeks as he teased: “As soon as something threatens his family he goes hell-bent, sort of psycho. He always sort of cracks under pressure, doesn’t he? It looks like he’s got it all together then he kind of does something extreme, like he’ll run someone over. Or he’ll try and poison someone or something. He’ll always try and do something a bit extreme.”
