Coronation Street’s Fiz Dobbs (Jenny McAlpine) was left reeling when she bumped into the woman who (temporarily) ended her marriage while doing a spot of grocery shopping at Fresco’s earlier this month.
But Fiz’s worst feelings are realised next week, when husband Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) is pulled closer towards ex Alina Pop (Ruxandra Porojnicu).
As Corrie fans know, Alina is back in Weatherfield three years after her exit to give evidence at the trial of the people traffickers who brought her to the UK from Romania.
There was an almighty surprise in store for Tyrone, however, when it was revealed Alina had secretly given birth to his son Dorin while she was away from the Street.
In new scenes to air next week, Fiz is fuming when Tyrone admits he lied to her about a large bill which was in fact to pay Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson) for a consultation about Dorin.
She is then further horrified when Tyrone reveals that he’d like Alina and Dorin to move to Weatherfield permanently, so he can be a bigger part of his son’s life.
Meanwhile, Fiz’s daughter Hope Stape (Isabella Flanagan) is also having trouble accepting having Alina back, given their somewhat complicated past.
Prior to her exit, Alina suffered a miscarriage during a fire Hope started at their flat above the salon, still upset about how Tyrone had split from Fiz.
While Tyrone’s daughter Ruby (Billie Naylor) is loving making a fuss of her new brother next week, Hope wants nothing to do with Dorin.
And when Alina starts receiving menacing calls ahead of the trial, Tyrone believes Hope might be behind them.
He’s soon proved wrong, however, when Alina is attacked in her hotel room by a thug trying to intimidate her into not giving evidence at the trial.
Will Alina be able to go through with it, or will she flee Weatherfield?
Coronation Street airs these new scenes from Monday 19 August at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
