It’s good news for fans of the new couple in the ITV soap
Coronation Street fans think they have spotted a bit of ‘classic foreshadowing’ in the latest trip to the cobbles – and its good news for fans of Carla Connor and DS Lisa Swain.
Fans of the ITV soap spent a long time willing Lisa to fully admit her feelings for Carla after they grew close during the investigation into a missing Lauren Bolton.
The pair then shared a charged moment back in October which left them both internally questioning their feelings for one another before they decided to get their friendship back on track.
It was then in November that, after some advice from Ryan Connor, Carla headed back to her flat where she found Lisa getting dressed after spending the night on the sofa following a drunken night in the Rovers Return. However, Carla told her not to bother putting her clothes back on, before grabbing her face and kissing her, with Lisa quick to reciprocate.
Their relationship still took a while to progress and they are continuing to face a number of challenges, with lisa determined to get the Logan brothers behind bars for what she thinks is their involvement in her late partner Becky’s death, all while Carla is in hospital facing another kidney transplant.
During the latest trip to Weatherfield on Thursday night (January 9), after it was confirmed Carla would need a new kidney, Lisa headed to the hospital to show her support and sat and comforted her new partner as she emotionally told her about half-brother Aidan giving her a kidney.
With Lisa pointing out that Carla hadn’t told her much about him, the Underworld boss revealed how he had insisted on being her donor, reflecting on his bravery and kindness as he battled with depression. She later opened up about how Aidan had taken his own life, before telling Lisa how she wanted to protect his kidney the way she hadn’t been able to protect him when he was alive.
But amidst the emotional scenes, Corrie fans saw Lisa and Carla interrupted by the news from Lisa’s daughter Betsy that one of the Logan brothers, Matty, had been arrested in connection with Mason Radcliffe’s death.
Taking to social media, @vjw79 asked: “Can everyone just stop barging into Carla’s room interrupting moments?!” @Whitty20e said: “It’s bloody frustrating.” @AngB972947762 agreed: “Yes!!”
Others, meanwhile, think there has been a hint that good things are to come for the couple. It came as Carla’s nephew sat alongside her in the hospital, keeping himself entertained with a copy of Chit Chat magazine which had a wedding advertisement on the back.

We are buying a hat then eh #swarla.” @swarlalove added: “All this talk of swarla wedding foreshadowing reminded me that corrie wrote ‘do we buy a hat now, or?’ as the caption on don’t get dressed day…”
