Police officer Kit Green has been causing quite the stir in ITV’s Coronation Street but fans seem to have had enough of his bent copper portrayal

Viewers of Coronation Street have begged producers to axe bent copper Kit Green (Jacob Roberts) as they beg producers to “get him off my screen”.

The son of Bernie Winter (Jane Hazlegrove) has been causing serious trouble since he arrived in the ITV soap earlier this year. Viewers will have seen the soap villain evidence tampering and engaging in corruption and blackmail.

In recent scenes, Kit was also partly responsible for the breakdown of David Platt (Jack P. Shepherd) and his wife Shona’s (Julia Goulding) marriage after he shared an intimate night with her. On Monday’s programme (December 30), an angry David confronted Kit about his dodgy behaviour.

This later led to Kit attempting to arrest David. But given his history of calamity and disaster, fans seem to have had enough of Kit and are begging for ITV producers to get rid of his character altogether.

On social media site X, formerly known as Twitter, frustrated fans shared their thoughts. One viewer said: “Kit is such a manipulative little s**t get him off my screen!”

Another shared: “We all know Kit will get his comeuppance eventually. In the meantime, we hate him.”

A third viewer said: “What does Kit actually bring to the show? He doesn’t do any good storylines and he doesn’t even do his job as a police officer!”

Fans want Kit written out of the show

“There’s actually people on #here saying they like kit? #WTF because he’s tall? Handsome? Na still doesn’t make him likeable,” a fourth fan said.

Meanwhile another baffled viewer said: “I’m baffled as to why they have made Kit the main character and centred everything basically around him since he’s arrived. I want to like him as a character but it’s a struggle.”

But some viewers seemed to have taken a liking to Kit and think he is brining entertainment to the show. One fan shared: “Love him or hate him, Kit is one of more interesting characters on this street. Unique too as he actually has a brain!”

Actor Jacob plays DC Kit Green on the ITV soap opera Coronation Street. Roberts is an English actor who previously played Damon Kinsella on the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks from 2017–2023.
