Coronation Street trio branded ‘new Sugababes’ amid Jane Danson personal update

A trio of Coronation Street stars have been brilliantly hailed as the ‘new Sugababes’ as they celebrated a personal milstone for Jane Danson. The actress was supported by her castmates over the weekend as she celebrated her birthday.

Jane is best known to viewers for playing Leanne Battersby in the ITV soap having joined back in 1997 when she was aged just 18. She later left in 2000 before returning four years later and the rest, as they say, is history as Leanne has faced a whole host of drama in the past 20 years.

But away from her on-screen alter-ego, Jane is firm pals with a number of her Corrie co-stars and it was Alison King and Samia Longchambon, who are famed for playing Carla Connor and Maria Windass in the long-running soap, who joined her to celebrate her 46th birthday.

Samia shared a snap of the trio with her 453,000 Instagram followers as she revealed how they quietly marked Jane’s special day together. She captioned the post: “Cosy drinks with our birthday girl @realjanedanson.”

Samia revealed Jane’s famous husband was behind the photo, in which they all smiled for the camera over a glass of wine, as she credited the picture to former Brookside and Emmerdale star Robert Beck.

Responding to the post, Jane wrote: “[red heart emoji] You ladies.” Sally Carman-Duttine, who plays Abi Webster, was also quick to respond as she gushed: “How gorgeous!” Former Corrie star Ryan Thomas simply posted a string of red heart emojis while ex castmate and Strictly star Shayne Ward’s fiancée, Sophie Austin, added: “Gorgeous ladies.”

Others were also quick to respond to the post. The iconic Hunsnet quipped: “New sugababes line up just dropped.” @stevenlnt1 said: “Lovely picture.Happy birthday hope your having a great birthday.” @lyndseykirk352 commented: “Incredible actress I’ve watched her since the 90s happy birthday Jane.”
