Coronation Street Tracy’s new love interest ‘revealed’ as soap legend – but it’s not Steve

Coronation Street fans are convinced they know who Tracy Barlow’s next romance will be with – and it’s not who viewers would expect

Coronation Street’s Tracy Barlow, played by Kate Ford, might be heading for an unexpected new love interest on the famous cobbles – and it’s not her former flame Steve McDonald. Tracy, a soap icon, has been a constant presence on the show for many years. Known for her brash and flirtatious character, Tracy has been involved in numerous major storylines throughout her time in Weatherfield, including shocking affairs and even murder.

She’s also had a string of failed romances, including a surprising relationship with Roy Cropper, portrayed by David Neilson. However, last year she left the iconic street to start a fresh life in Spain with her footballer boyfriend Tommy Orpington, played by Matt Milburn.

Viewers will remember that Tracy had a secret affair with Tommy behind her husband Steve McDonald’s (Simon Gregson) back while Tommy was working on their house. The truth eventually came out, leading Tracy to leave Weatherfield with Tommy to relocate to Spain.

Recently though, Tracy has made several appearances on the soap, hinting that things with Tommy might not be going well. This week, Tracy announced that she’s back in Weatherfield for the foreseeable future, reports Plymouth Live.

Now, viewers believe they’ve figured out who Tracy’s next romantic partner will be – and it’s a familiar face. Lately, Tracy has formed a friendship with her old rival Leanne Battersby, played by Jane Danson. In Monday’s episode (January 20), the two hatched a plan to get back at Leanne’s unfaithful ex Nick (Ben Price) and sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor).

Fans are predicting a Leanne and Tracy romance

Corrie fans are buzzing with speculation that Tracy Barlow and Leanne Battersby could become more than just friends. On a Coronation Street Facebook fan page, one viewer speculated: “Tracy and Leanne could get together and Tracy has already been with a woman before.”

The theory gained traction among the soap’s followers, with another adding: “I’ve been thinking the same.” A third fan contributed: “The Tracy and Leanne slow burn starts from today, I’m calling it they are 100% going to have a night at the CSH.” Yet another chimed in with enthusiasm: “I’d love for this to happen!”

Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
