They are preparing to face-off away from their respective ITV soaps
A number of Coronation Street stars have cheekily taken aim at some of the cast of Emmerdale as they prepare to face-off away from their respective soaps.
A number of women from both ITV shows, both in front of the camera and behind it, have teamed up to create their own netball teams and with the help of the Manchester Thunder netball team will be going head-to-head on the netball court.
The last battle took place 10 years ago after a number of years of the two soaps coming together to raise money for Text Santa, an ITV campaign which supported six charities – Teenage Cancer Trust, Guide Dogs, WellChild, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Alzheimer’s Society and Together for Short Lives.
Taking to Instagram, Channique Sterling-Brown, who plays Corrie’s Dee-Dee Bailey, took to Instagram with a snap of the Corrie team preparing for the match. Captioning the post, she wrote: “A sweaty first training session for our Corrie Vs Emmerdale netball match but we loved it! We’ll be playing alongside the brilliant @thundernetball on the 16th March and we can’t wait.”

Among the on-screen stars taking part alongside Channique are Sydney Martin (Betsy Swain), Vicky Myers (DS Lisa Swain), Jane Hazlegrove (Bernie Winter) and Cait Fitton (Lauren Bolton).
Responding to the post, Jane said: “Excellent work CSB! What a team.” Corrie co-star Sally Carman, who plays Weatherfield’s Abi Webster, also replied: “I am here for this!” Sydney also shared the post to her Instagram Story and added: “@emmerdale we’re coming for ya!!! CORRIE V EMMERDALE @thundernetball.”
The news also excited fans. @daisyxjessie said: “I am so excited!! Team Corrie.” @samira_miah44444 wrote: “Team Corrie come on.” @isthatsammi commented: “Ahhhh! slayyyy.” @swarlanationx shared: “TEAM CORRIE!! so excited for this.” @emma_shrimps added: “Looking forward to this. Go team Corrie.”
Their game at the event comes amid the launch of the new Netball Super League. In a repeat of the 2024 Grand Final, two forces will come together at the AO Arena, as Manchester Thunder take on the current Netball Super League Champions, Loughborough Lightning.
