Coronation Street’s Billy Mayhew and Paul Foreman have been reunited after a heartbreaking exit, but fans of the ITV soap have said ‘it’s not the same’ without Paul.
Last year, Coronation Street’s Paul Foreman (Peter Ash), left the soap as his character succumbed to MND in a heart-wrenching plot.
ITV viewers were devastated as Paul died in September with his partner Billy Mayhew (Daniel Brocklebank) failing to reach the hospital in time for a final farewell.
Yet, over the past weekend, the on-screen couple was spotted together in London, sending soap enthusiasts into a frenzy, reports Lancs Live.
On Instagram, Daniel shared an adorable snap with Peter, both grinning ear-to-ear, as he captioned the snap: “Reunited! In that there London!”
Fans were quick to express their longing for Peter’s presence on the cobbles since his storyline ended. One commented: “So lovely to see you again – wish you were still around – miss that lovely smile and you.”
Another said: “Wish we could go back to the days we saw you both on screen together every night.” A third fan added: “Awww!!! The boys, back together again.”
One viewer commented: “It really isn’t the same without you Paul. You’re both fantastic.” While another echoed: “Lovely photo of you both, so so sweet. Miss Peter as Paul in Corrie everyday. Not the same without Billy and Paul. They are such a cute couple just love them, my favourites such stars they are.”

When Peter opened up about his departure from the ITV soap, he was full of gratitude for his stint on the cobbles. Chatting with Manchester Evening News, he said: “I massively thank Iain and Verity [MacLeod, Corrie producers] for trusting me with this story.
“It’s a double-edged sword. I always knew it would be an eventual exit unless we were lucky enough to find a cure [for MND] in that time.
“But I always knew it would be [his exit] and I’m just, again, grateful that they trusted me to play the storyline and allowed it to play out, there was never a ‘this is when it’s going to end’.

“I was always quite surprised when I’d ring Iain and he’d say, ‘Right, this is what’s happening for the next six months…’ But it was amazing.”
Since waving goodbye to Weatherfield, Peter has been treading the boards in theatre land. He’s been teasing his followers on Instagram with behind-the-scenes peeks at his stage gigs, including his turns in Aladdin and Picture You Dead.
Coronation Street is on ITV at 8pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
