The young actor, who plays Sam Blakeman in the ITV soap, took to Instagram as Carter-J Murphy made his on-screen debut
Coronation Street star Jude Riordan has shared a sweet ‘welcome’ message to his new co-star – who has a link to pop icon Robbie Williams.
The young actor, who plays Sam Blakeman in the ITV soap, took to Instagram as new castmate Carter-J Murphy made his on-screen debut as the new Harry Platt, the son of Sarah Platt.
During Wednesday’s (December 11) Corrie, Gail Platt called a family meeting to reveal her plans to wed Jesse Chadwick and leave the cobbles behind to her mother, Audrey Roberts, and her children.
Not only did the revelation that their wedding was just two weeks away cause surprise among her loved ones, but adding their plan was to head off into the sunset and spend their days in Europe created quite the atmosphere.
David was furious, realising that not only was he having to share his birthday with Christmas and his mother’s sixth wedding day, but also feeling that his mum had turned her back on him with her plans to leave Weatherfield behind.
But he was soon distracted when his nephew Harry, Sarah’s son, emerged from his bedroom clutching a handful of £20 notes that he’d found in the wardrobe, with viewers knowing it was the cash he stole from Harvey Gaskell after Damon Hay planned to give it to Sarah to help Bethany after her botched cosmetic surgery.
The surprise didn’t stop there as Corrie fans were stunned to see Harry looking more grown-up as he had been recast. The role is now being played by young actor Carter-J Murphy. The role of Harry was previously shared by twins Freddie and Isaac Rhodes, who have been on screen since 2017, following the character’s birth in 2016.
Harry was born after Sarah had a brief fling with Callum Logan. The villainous character was killed by former flame Kylie Platt before Harry’s birth, meaning he never knew his father.
Carter-J made his acting debut earlier this year in the new big screen Robbie Williams biopic, Better Man, playing a younger version of the former Take That singer.
Taking to Instagram, Jude shared a snap of himself, Carter-J and Lily Platt actress Brooke Malonie taken behind the scenes and said: “Welcome to the FAM @carterjmurphy Make sure you watch @coronationstreet tonight as it’s his first EP as the new Harry Platt. Yes Cuz #corrie #coronationstreet #corriekids #onthecobbles #theplatts #samblakeman #lilyplatt #harryplatt.”
