Coronation Street star Tina O’Brien has responded after her ageless appearance came into question once again. The actress is often being compliments on her youthful appearance with viewers of the long-running show having watched her grow-up on-screen.
The actress is best known for playing Sarah Barlow – nee Platt – in the ITV soap, but didn’t join until the daughter of matriarch Gail Platt turned 12.
The character was originally portrayed by then-babies Leah King and Lynsay King in 1987, when Sarah was born to Gail Platt and Brian Tilsley. Sarah and her older brother Nick were later adopted by Martin Platt when he married Gail in 1991.
Lynsay was kept in the role until Sarah turned 12 on-screen in 1999, which is when Tina, then 16, joined the cast and, over the years she has faced a whole host of hard-hitting storylines – from giving birth to her first child, Bethany, at 13, being kidnapped alongside her family by her psychotic stepfather Richard Hillman and suffering child loss when her son, Billy.
Sarah’s long stint in Weatherfield has meant that viewers have also seen the Rusholme-born actress grow up on-screen. But it wasn’t on Corrie where her career started. Before Tina scooped the role of Sarah more than 20 years ago, she played the role of Claire in CITV favourite Children’s Ward in 1997. She then joined the Salford-based soap in 1999 and the rest, as they say, is history.
And Tina’s Weatherfield past is never too far away as she reshared a post from an episode of classic Corrie in which she could be seen in a scene as Sarah alongside Jason Grimshaw, played by Tina’s former real-life partner Ryan Thomas.
A message alongside the post read: “Sarah Lou has not aged a day! @tinaob83.” But the soap star replied on her Instagram Story: “Awww you’re so kind! I flippin’ wish!!! I must have been about 23 years old when this was filmed.”

It comes after Tina gave a glimpse into the secret behind her youthful looks. The mum-of-two took to social media with a sweet snap cuddling up to her beloved dog as she had a day off from filming.
She then went on to share how she usually starts her mornings before heading to the Trafford-based set, and gave an insight how she keeps herself on top form.
Captioning a picture of her various supplements, Tina wrote: “When working at @coronationstreet we start early. 7.10am for costume, 7.25 for @corriemakeup. I find it hard to fit in breakfast before starting filming as clearly I don’t wake up looking as glam as on-screen. So I make myself this funky looking shake.
After sharing details of what she uses, she posed for a mirror selfie with her shake in hand before heading out the door. “Ready to go…” she typed alongside the post.
