Coronation Street’s Tyrone Dobbs actor Alan Halsall has spilled all on his character’s shocking news that aired on Wednesday night, with a secret child twist leaving one family reeling
Coronation Street’s Tyrone Dobbs faces a tough time ahead following some shocking news that was revealed on Wednesday night.
A secret child bombshell along with a surprise return turned Tyrone’s world upside down, after a huge discovery by his wife Fiz Brown. Tyrone was left reeling as he found out he could have a secret son he didn’t even know existed, years on from his ex Alina Pop leaving the street.
Alina made her big return to the show on Wednesday as part of a trial twist, with Fiz bumping into her. But after Fiz tracked her down at the local hotel, she was dumbstruck to find out Alina had a son.
She knew immediately given Alina left three years ago and had potentially been pregnant at the time that the child was very liekly to be Tyrone’s. She raised this concern, but Alina did not answer and soon fled the hotel.
Viewers may recall Alina sadly suffered a miscarriage in 2021 after a fire caused by Tyrone’s stepdaughter Hope. After this she learned she was pregnant again, but claimed to Tyrone she was mistaken – while viewers saw her gently holding her stomach as she left the street.

Three years on and Alina’s back, and Fiz realised it could be Tyrone’s son. She told Tyrone the shocking news and he did not know how to take it, before deciding to find Alina himself.
Unfortunately for Tyrone she had fled with her child, while spoilers have revealed she will be back on Friday. Tyrone and Alina will come face-to-face for the first time since she left, but how will they react?
Speaking exclusively to The Mirror about the scenes, Tyrone star Alan Halsall spoke out about the twist and what was ahead. He teased there would be “serious” scenes ahead as Tyrone struggles to navigate through this latest bombshell, while trying to keep his family together.
He confessed: “I don’t think Tyrone knows how to react… finally they get married, happy life, happy wife, two kids, and now Alina is back to throw a spanner in the works, and we’ll see how he tries to navigate this one.” On the child twist, he went on: “I feel like everyone knew apart from Tyrone when she left, but I always knew she’d probably be coming back.
“Tyrone at first wants to bury his head and forget it ever happened but the reality of the situation is there’s a child involved. Tyrone realises the seriousness of the situation and he has to bite the bullet on this one and get involved.”
Alan added: “He will want to be involved in some way and do the right thing by his child but as I say he has great intentions, but it doesn’t always work out.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
