The actress told fans they ‘had some news’ in a new social media update alongside her son, Sam
Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor has been flooded with support as she made an announcement alongside her rarely-seen son. The actress told fans they ‘had some news’ in a new social media update.
Sally, who is famed for playing Sally Metcalfe – nee Webster – in the ITV soap, is known for having two daughters as they’ve followed in her acting footsteps.
Eldest Phoebe Dynevor shot to fame a few years ago in the first series of Netflix hit Bridgerston in which she starred as Daphne Bridgerton. It came years after she made an appearance in Waterloo Road which younger sister Hattie now stars in after the BBC rebooted the school-based drama.
But Sally, who is famed for playing namesake Sally Metcalfe in ITV’s Corrie, is also a proud mum to her son Sam who she shares with husband Tim Dynevor, who she married in 1995 and is also in the TV business as a BAFTA nominated screenwriter for film and television.
And Sally has revealed that she and Sam are preparing for a huge challenge as they were seen spending their Sunday getting some very important steps in.
On Instagram, the soap star shared: “My son Sam and I have some news! We will be climbing the world’s tallest freestanding mountain, Kilimanjaro in September for @preventbreastcancer.
“It will be 16 years since my diagnosis. Like so many other family’s we never thought this would happen to us but it did. Help us break the cycle of breast cancer. Anything you can donate would go directly to @preventbreastcancer. JustGiving link in bio.”

Sally had her own journey with breast cancer. She was told she had the disease in November 2009. At the time, Sally was filming heartbreaking scenes for the soap about her much-loved character reeling from the news that she had breast cancer.
The storyline prompted Sally to see a nurse at ITV and to get checked after she found a small lump in her breast which felt like a grain of rice. At the time of her diagnosis, Sally thought her doctor was confusing her with her on-screen alter-ego. She received the news on the same day she filmed the scene where she shared her diagnosis with her on-screen husband.
She has since been dedicated to raising awareness and is a patron of Manchester-based Prevent Breast Cancer, the UK charity that focuses solely on the prediction and prevention and funds ground-breaking research aimed at preventing the disease for future generations.
Showing support for her challenge with Sam, Tim replied: “Brilliant, so proud of you both,” while Hattie shared: “So proud of you both.” Her Corrie co-stars were also quick to respond.
Betsy Swain actress Sydney Martin said: “Good Luck Sally&Sam.” Sally Carman-Duttine, who plays Abi Webster, commented: “Pair of absolute legends!!!!” Bernie Winter star Jane Hazlegrove added: “You are extraordinary! And your family are extraordinary @sallydynevor.”
