Coronation Street star ready to ditch UK after show exit as he shares job away from the screen

The Corrie star is “looking forward” to the rest of his life

Coronation Street fans may be surprised to learn that Colson Smith has another role away from the Cobbles. The Craig Tinker actor recently announced he is leaving Coronation Street after 14 years.

Posting an image of his character outside of the Rovers Return wearing his police uniform, a job he has had for many years on the street. He wrote: “Autumn last year I was told that Craig Tinker’s time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025. I’ve LOVED every single second of my 14 year stay as a resident on the GREATEST street in the world.”

Outside of the acting world, Colson is also the director of cricket at Castleford cricket club. He had long associations with the club before becoming director having successfully led the team to become Yorkshire Premier League North champions in 2021.

Speaking on the ‘On The Sofa’ podcast with Corrie co-stars Jack P. Shepherd and Ben Price, Colson shared that he “doesn’t think” his Corrie exit will impact his cricket commitments but he “doesn’t actually know yet and will have to see how it goes this year”.

He teased a possible stint on the BBC show Strictly Come Dancing in the future, but wants to travel first. Colson said he had earmarked a trip to Kenya to take part in a two-week running camp.

He said: “It looks really really cool” and joked he will “try and keep up” with them. While travelling the world, he also hopes to go on a road trip through the USA and do the American music tour through New Orleans and Nashville.

Aside from his solo plans, he is set to star in a live show alongside his Corrie co-stars Jack P. Shepherd and Ben Price later this year.
