Coronation Street star Colson Smith has left fans ‘obsessed’ as he was flooded with messages over a ‘Weatherfield police’ update ahead of his exit from the show.

Fans of the ITV soap will now be aware that he’ll be bowing out of the popular programme soon after more than a decade of playing Craig Tinker. Colson has grown up alongside his character on-screen, having first appeared in Weatherfield as the son of Beth Tinker, played by Lisa George, as a youngster back in 2011.

However, Colson confirmed on January 6 that as he prepares to mark 14 years in Weatherfield this summer, his time as his policing alter-ego is coming to an end after soap bosses felt his character reached the end of the road following the exit of his on-screen mum Lisa George last year.

But the soap star is seemingly making the most of the time his has left as part of the current Corrie cast as he was seen joining a number of his co-stars at the TV Choice Awards 2025 on Monday evening (February 10), which were held at the London Hilton on Park Lane.

Colson was joined at the star-studded bash by co-stars Jacob Roberts (DC Kit Green), Vicky Myers (DS Lisa Swain), Sydney Martin (Betsy Swain), Daniel Brocklebank (Billy Mayhew), Sair Kahn (Alya Nazir), Julia Goulding (Shona Platt), Jodie Prenger (Glenda Shuttleworth) and former co-star Peter Ash (Paul Foreman).

But for Colson, it was all about Weatherfield’s policing crew as he beamed for a snap alongside his on-screen Weatherfield nick colleagues Jacob and Vicky. Alongside the post on Instagram, he wrote: “Weatherfield Police Staff Awards 2025,” before jokingly writing in the comments section: “Craig won.”

And fans were quick to respond to the post. @swarlaxo said: “my favourite coppers.” @_rainbowsunshine99 commented: “You all look gorgeous.” @arc248 wrote: “The Weatherfield coppers don’t scrub up half bad.” @harrietwoodxx replied: “Absolute ICONS.”
