Coronation Street star Jane Danson has been flooded with messages as she shared a rare family update. The actress made a ‘crazy’ realisation as she marked her son’s birthday.
Jane, who is famed for playing Leanne Battersby in the ITV soap, has been with her husband, Robert Beck, for more than 20 years. The pair met in 1999 at the British Soap Awards – but Jane has previously admitted she had a crush on Robert since she was 15.
Robert is also a familiar face in TV, having starred in Brookside, Emmerdale, Waterloo Road, and even had a stint in Corrie in 2008. More recently, Robert played Fergus Collins in Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks and had a dramatic short stint in Emmerdale at the end of last year as villain Damon ‘Harry’ Harris.
After years of friendship, which turned into romance, the loved-up couple tied the knot in 2005 before welcoming their first child Harry just one year later, and second son Sam in 2009.
And taking to Instagram on Thursday (February 27), Jane was marked her son’s 16th birthday. She shared pictures of the birthday boy as well as photos of him with her and his dad.
Alongside the post, the soap star wrote: “Happy 16th birthday to my youngest @samthompson_21. The years are flying by. He is 2 years younger than I was when I started @coronationstreet, crazy!!! Love you mate [love heart eyes emoji] @robertbeck529.”
Jane’s Corrie co-stars were quick to respond to the post. Sally Carman-Duttine wrote: “So handsome! Happy Birthday Sam,” Georgia Taylor said: “Happy birthday Sam.” Sally Dynevor replied: “Happy Birthday Sam.” Samia Longchambon gushed: “Happy birthday handsome chops!”
Her followers were also sending their messages. @flickhan said: “Oh wow..he looks just like you Jane.” @francesca.dimariar59 commented: “So handsome. Happy birthday.” @insta_evelynxx wrote: “Happy birthday. Handsome young man.”
