Georgia May Foote is best known for playing Katy Armstrong in Coronation Street and for competing in Strictly Come Dancing in 2015 – but her career has taken a different direction since
Former soap star Georgia May Foote, best known for her role as Katy Armstrong in Coronation Street, now has a new career following her soap exit. Georgia played Katy from 2010 to 2015 before leaving the show. Her character moved to Portugal with her son Joseph Brown (now portrayed by William Flanagan).
In a shocking twist, it was later revealed that Katy had died off-screen in a car crash. The news was delivered to Katy’s sister Izzy Armstrong (Cherylee Houston) via a phone call in 2017. After her departure from Corrie, Georgia, 33, took part in Strictly Come Dancing where she was partnered with professional dancer Giovanni Pernice. They made it to the final alongside EastEnders’ Kellie Bright and her dance partner Kevin Clifton. However, they were runners up to The Wanted’s Jay McGuiness and Aliona Vilani.
Post-Corrie, Georgia appeared in Sky’s Trollied, BBC’s Doctors and the CW’s The Outpost. Despite her Instagram bio stating she’s still an actress and voice-over artist, she has been focusing on running her own business recently.
Soap star Georgia, who tied the knot with her beau Kris Evans last year, excitedly took to Instagram to share her latest venture with fans. After qualifying as a nail technician in 2021, she has proudly opened GMF Nails based in Manchester.
Offering an array of services, GMF Nails’ Insta page is buzzing with options from one-on-one tutorials to standout gel polish and creative nail art. For pros wanting to up their game, Georgia’s got you covered with personalised classes tailored just for you, ranging from £150-£400 for sessions between two to six hours.
The EastEnders alum posted: “I will now be offering 1-1 lessons with myself! These lessons are for qualified nail techs who are looking to enhance and perfect their skills. Each tutorial will be fully tailored to each individual and what they wish to focus on. We can concentrate on prep and BIAB applications or nail art. Or both! The choice is yours! Each lesson comes with a goody bag worth over £50 for you to leave with Dm to book in! Any questions please ask.”
Georgia also shared a personal health update earlier in July, revealing she had undergone an unexpected surgical procedure. While she kept the specifics private, she alerted her nail salon clientele that she might need to reschedule appointments as she focuses on recovery.
She wrote reassuringly to her clients: “Clients booked in last week, I just wanted to let you know that I had last-minute surgery today. I’m not sure what the recovery is like or how quick I will be able to return. So, I am just giving a heads up that your appointment may change.”
Georgia is also known for playing Alison in Grange Hill from 2005 to 2008.
