Coronation Street star Cait Fitton tells fans ‘keep watching’ as castmate mistaken for ‘sister’

The actress, who fans know for playing Lauren Bolton in the ITV soap, made the comments during a chat with fans

Coronation Street star Cait Fitton has teased fans and told them to ‘keep watching’ as she was quizzed about her co-stars in a new question and answer session.

The actress, who fans know for playing Lauren Bolton in the ITV soap, made her Corrie debut in late 2022 as the wayward character. Then, months after being involved in Max Turner’s far-right storyline, she was thrown in turmoil as her alter-ego was abused by solicitor Joel Deering.

With Lauren still facing turmoil in Weatherfield with boyfriend Max set to be sentenced for arson, Cait implored her followers to ask her some questions as she was quizzed on everything to do with life on the famous cobbles.

One was keen to know what the ‘next story’ they’ll see on-screen for Lauren to which the soap star replied: “I would say we are going to see a different side to Lauren. We will see a much more playful side to her along with her fiestiness.

“Of course the trauma she has been subjected to will never leave her, however, she will continue turning her pain to power.” But she also added: “But, of course, it wouldn’t be @coronationstreet without a little drama along the way.”

And it wasn’t long before Cait was asked questions about her co-stars. One said: “Have you done any filming with Sydney [Martin] aka Betsy [Swain]?” to which she replied: “Me and Syd have worked together in the previous storyline briefly.” As she shared a video of the pair playing about in their dressing room, Cait added: “Never a dull moment when I’m in @sydneymartin’s presence.”

It led another fan to ask: “Are there any Lauren and Betsy scenes planned?” to which Cait teased: “Guess you’ll just have to keep watching to find out!”

But it appears some think the pair could pass for being siblings – either off-screen or on. Another of Cait’s followers said: “You and Sydney definitely look so alike it’s crazy.” In response, the soap star replied: “Sista from another mista, me and my gyal @sydneymartin_.”

Elsehwere in the Q&A on Instagram, Cait was asked about Paddy Bever’s upcoming exit as Max as she shared her emotional thoughts for the first time.

One of her followers asked: “Are you going to miss Paddy so much and do you think Max will come back?” While she didn’t hint at the future, Cait replied: “I do miss my @paddybever [face holding back tears and red heart emojis].”

Another also asked: “Do you miss working with Paddy? What was your favourite scenes you had with him?” As she shared a clip of a scene the pair shared in the aftermath of Joel’s death in Corrie, Cait commented: “This scene will always be my favourite Lax scene [crying face and broken heart emojis].” She then added: “@paddybever oh how I miss working with you,” alongside a number of face holding back tears emoji.
