Coronation Street star Cait Fitton appears to have been left emotional as her co-star’s exit was officially confired on-screen, with the news also leaving fans ‘heartbroken’.
It has been no secret that actor Paddy Bever would be bowing out of the ITV soap after he confirmed he would be leaving the role of Max Turner at the start of the year.
Max is the son of the late Kylie Platt and stepson of her husband, David Platt, and it was Harry McDermott who played the role from 2010. But when he left to continue with his acting studies and explore other opportunities, it was Paddy who took over the role in 2021.
It’s been quite the few years for the character, with his time on the cobbles ending behind bars. It was revealed in February that he was for starting the fire that saw the Platts’ beloved family home destroyed, thinking it’d help his family be safe from gangster Harvey Gaskell.
The police soon discovered the truth and during Monday’s (March 3) episode of Corrie. Max was in court to receive his sentence, with David, Shona Platt and Lauren Bolton all sat in the court also waiting for the news.

The judge took into account Max’s apparent remorse and guilty plea but with that alongside his premeditated actions and suspended sentence didn’t bode well for the teen.
He was left shocked by the outcome, as he was told he’d serves six and a half years. Plans were then made to transfer Max to a prison in County Durham the following day with his loved ones desperate to keep him safe amid the ongoing threats from dangerous Harvey.
And Corrie fans were left reacting to the news. @protectingpaddy said: “My heart breaks for max. He wanted to become a family with Lauren and be the best dad he could to frankie.. and my heart breaks knowing he will never get the chance too. I hope lauren, frankie , david, shona and lilly all see max in prison.”
@lorraineb888 commented: “Losing another wonderful character.” @livoosta wrote: “I really hope this isn’t the exit he doesn’t deserve it.” @sue8874 added: “I hope they bring the character back eventually so he and Lauren can be together even if someone else plays him!”
Also following the scenes, Lauren actress Cait took to Instagram with a clip from Max’s sentencing which she reshared from the Corrie Instagram page and simply posted a string of crying face emojis.

It comes after Cait shared her sadness at Paddy’s exit in an Instagram Q&A. One of her followers asked: “Are you going to miss Paddy so much and do you think Max will come back?” While she didn’t hint at the future, Cait replied: “I do miss my @paddybever [face holding back tears and red heart emojis].”
Another also asked: “Do you miss working with Paddy? What was your favourite scenes you had with him?” As she shared a clip of a scene the pair shared in the aftermath of Joel’s death in Corrie, Cait commented: “This scene will always be my favourite Lax scene [crying face and broken heart emojis].”
