Coronation Street star brands I’m A Celeb’s Dean McCullough ‘disrespectful’ after feud

I’m a Celebrity contestant Dean McCullough has been branded ‘disrespectful’ by his campmate Alan Halsall’s Coronation Street co-star Andy Whyment following a heated exchange.

Coronation Street’s Alan Halsall found himself embroiled in a fiery clash this weekend with DJ Dean McCullough, sparking a wave of support from cast member Andy Whyment. The drama unfolded when Dean chose to take a nap over completing camp duties, leading to tension with camp leader Alan.

The incident escalated after Alan attempted to rouse the napping radio star so he could assist Loose Women’s Jane Moore in gathering firewood. “You don’t fancy it? No?” Alan enquired, only to be met by silence, prompting him to go and help Jane without Dean, reports The Mirror.

However, Dean soon woke up and joined in to help, but not before confronting Alan over the wake-up call. He commented: “Listen to me. If you’re going to wake me up, you need to give me a minute, alright? It takes me a couple of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again, all right? So you don’t need to turn around to me and say, ‘Do you not fancy it? OK?’ And then turn around and walk away.”

Also adding his opinion on the spat was Alan’s Coronation Street co-star Andy Whyment who commented on the situation. While appearing on Lorraine, the soap star said:”The bit that got me was when he was in the Bush telegraph and basically said ‘I was asleep and wee Tyrone from Coronation Street is standing over me’.

“I just thought that was a bit disrespectful. Al’s a 42-year-old man and the way Dean was speaking to him was a bit like a child.” It wasn’t just Andy who had his say on the matter as Ant and Dec also shared their opinions during an Instagram Live session.

Ant clearly took issue with Alan’s manner but showed no tolerance for how Dean addressed him, noting: “I wouldn’t stand for any of that… I would be like ‘shut-up’.”

Meanwhile, new episodes brought fresh drama with Maura Higgins and Rev. Richard Coles bracing themselves for the series’ first eating trial in a bid to secure a coveted junk food feast. Their entrance into camp stirred the pot, resulting in updates to sleeping arrangements.

Following public votes, campleaders Danny Jones and Barry McGuigan emerged, which led to Alan and Tulisa Contostavlos getting ousted from the Leaders Lodge. Andy speculated on a potential budding romance between the pair, commenting: “Well they seem to be getting on really well, don’t they?

“We know they’ve been sharing the hideout at the top so I’m sure they’ve been having a few conversations there and obviously, they won the first trial together on the very first show. Listen, good luck to him. He’s obviously a single lad and I think Tulisa is single so we shall see what happens. Watch this space.”

Currently, Danny is tipped as the favourite to clinch the title on the show, with Coleen Rooney hot on his heels. William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps commented: “Coleen Rooney has been a notable mover in the outright betting for this year’s I’m A Celeb crown over the past few days.

“Rooney has seen her price quartered, as she was backed in from 10/1 to 5/2 over the weekend, edging ever-closer to market leader Danny Jones (EVS). Maura Higgins has also been popular with viewers and has been backed into 5/1 from 10/1. The same can’t be said for Dean McCullough, who, having received mixed reactions from the public after poor trial performances and a spat with Alan Halsall, has seen his odds fly out to 40/1.”

I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! continues weeknights on ITV from 9pm.
