We’ve got new faces making their mark, big storylines set to kick off and some old favourites returning to the famous cobbles. There’s still so much to find out, while spoilers for this coming week hint at some big shocks in store for Weatherfield residents.

A recent trailer also alluded to death and danger, and we can certainly confirm there’s some almighty twists and huge scenes to come. So what can we tease and reveal about the incoming future for some of our much-loved characters? Here’s what is and could be ahead for Corrie…

Multiple deaths?

This is not confirmed, while future deaths could well be on the horizon. But if recent scenes and spoilers are anything to go by, we could be waving a sad goodbye to some Weatherfield residents.

David Platt plans his own death it seems, with a new preview for this week detailing the moment he chillingly shares he has just hours left to live. As he hires a hit on himself, is it the end for the soap legend?

He is caught up in a harrowing car accident this week, but he isn’t the only one. Pregnant Daisy Midgeley is also hit by the car and her fate remains unknown ahead of her confirmed soap exit.

One death that will likely happen, possibly offscreen, is that of Julie Carp. Eileen Grimshaw’s sister recently returned to the show and told her nephew Todd Grimshaw that she had cancer, and her condition was terminal.

She told him she might not have long left and would be lucky to see the summer, while she is yet to tell her sister. Other characters at risk of death could be Rob Donovan, Lisa Swain and Carla Connor as a trailer hinted at a horrifying siege situation set to air later this month.

Rob’s plan

Speaking of Rob, his big comeback and his escape plan reaches a dramatic climax in the coming weeks. Fans will know that Carla’s brother escaped prison recently and held his sister hostage, while also attacking her girlfriend Lisa.

Rob now remains at large with residents fearing his return. A new trailer has confirmed he does come back amid his prison escape, and it seems he takes Lisa and Carla hostage. As armed police swoop in on the street, will it all end in tragedy or will Rob finally face justice once more?

Exits confirmed

Deaths aside, there are some big exits coming up on the show and others teased. Amid Julie’s return, Eileen is leaving the street with actress Sue Cleaver bowing out after more than 20 years.

Yasmeen Nazir is also leaving the show, with actress Shelley King quitting the role in recent news. Other exits confirmed include Max Turner, played by Paddy Bever, and Daisy who is played by Charlotte Jordan.

It’s likely more exits will air as it is soap land after all, while a teased exit is Cassie Plummer. Cassie has finally been found out for drugging and stealing from Ken Barlow, so with her set to face her comeuppance will she be forced out of Weatherfield?

A future exit will be that of Debbie Webster, while her dementia storyline has not yet started onscreen. Corrie boss Kate Brooks had teased a number of exits back in December, saying viewers would be shocked by some of them.

Big returns

As well as people leaving the show we’ve got some familiar faces returning to the cobbles. Daisy’s mother Christine Boyd will at some point return to Weatherfield, as confirmed by the Mirror earlier this year.

It’s thought her return is linked to Daisy’s exit from the show. Another big return reported is Catherine Tyldesley’s character Eva Price. Fans are convinced she will be the new owner of The Rovers, after years away.

Corrie boss Kate had hinted at some big faces returning to the show to The Mirror in December last year, but no details have been shared. Fans will just have to keep watching for any other familiar faces.

New faces

We’ve just had the arrival of new characters Mick and Lou, and they are already causing chaos. It’s claimed there’s more drama ahead from them, but might we see the introduction of other family members?

We’ve also got newcomer Brody just having joined as Dylan Wilson’s STC inmate. Another new face confirmed by the show is Debbie and Kevin Webster’s brother Carl Webster, who will soon be heading to the street, while it’s always teased that more new faces could be heading to the show at some point.

Debbie’s dementia plot

Debbie Webster will soon take centre stage in an upsetting dementia storyline that will conclude with her leaving the show at some point. It’s thought to be running for a while yet, and it hasn’t commenced airing on screen at the moment.

Viewers have petitioned for months for the storyline to be scrapped, devastated for Debbie to be leaving. An insider recently told The Mirror of the storyline: “Sue [Devaney] is a total professional and is already putting her all into what she sees as hugely important long running storyline.

“She saw the positive impact of the MND storyline and hopes that her dementia story can have the same effect and raise awareness of the condition.” Spoilers have not suggested when the plot will begin, but it will no doubt be heartbreaking.

Big bombshells

As ever in soap land there’s still some big secrets to come out. There’s the truth about the paternity of Daisy’s baby, with Kit being the father and not Daniel.

Mick and Lou appearing to be hiding things too, and they share a secret link to Kit apparently. Kit himself is hiding his dodgy dealings, with the detective often up to no good.

Of course Julie is still hiding her cancer secret, and other characters could have something they don’t want anyone to know about. We’re expecting a load more discoveries and twists on the way for the remainder of 2025.

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
