Coronation Street spoilers: Fire tragedy, brutal attack and schedule shake-up

Coronation Street viewers are in for explosive scenes next week on the ITV soap, with an explosion leaving lives on the line while there’s concern for some characters

There’s devastating scenes on Coronation Street next week according to new spoilers.

The moment that has been heavily teased for a while finally airs, and it could have heartbreaking consequences for the Platt family. Their house goes up in flames in a fiery twist, in unmissable episodes.

There’s a schedule shake-up, with an episode set to air on Tuesday next week instead of next Friday. In a schedule shake-up, there will be three episodes in a row across Monday to Wednesday, instead of them being split up with a day in-between like normal.

The big fire airs as a continuous episode across Monday and Tuesday, with the fallout airing on Wednesday. More than one character will be left fighting for their lives in the horror scenes, as the Platts take centre stage – but the culprit might not be someone they expect.

It all kicks off when David Platt continues to endanger his family after his drama with Harvey Gaskell. As Sarah’s birthday party arrives, she fears all the family being together could make them even more of a target – unaware villain Logan Radcliffe has overheard her.

David makes his excuses not to attend, secretly teaming up with former prison inmate to raise some cash via some dodgy dealings. Meanwhile with some of the kids including Sam at the Platt’s house messing around, Toyah Battersby heads there to order the kids to leave.

But before she can leave, Abi Franklin storms in and confronts Toyah for calling social services on her. As things get heated, a moment leads to Abi suffering a panic attack and as Toyah reaches out to her, Abi hits her.

Toyah is left unconscious and as Abi flees, someone approaches the house and throws a lit rag through the letterbox causing the house to be engulfed in flames. When news of the fire reaches the Platts and other residents, race over and watch as the flames take hold.

Shona, Max and Nick end up rushing into the house to find Lily only for her to be safe outside. As Nick rescues a lifeless Toyah, Max ends up becoming trapped in the house as Shona flees to get help.

Suddenly the house explodes – but will everyone survive? Toyah and Max are rushed to hospital in a bad way, and soon the police are keen to find out who was responsible – with David sure Logan is to blame.

Meanwhile there’s concern for Amy Barlow, while Leanne Battersby gets drunk alone after being rejected by Steve McDonald. Soon Steve is clearly hiding something though when Amy asks where her dad was during her time of need.

Back to the fire, and it’s confirmed as arson, and Leanne finds herself being blamed after her feud with sister Toyah. When Leanne is shown to be carrying matches, did she cause the blaze?

She isn’t the only one under suspicion though, as David’s siblings accuse him too amid his work with Andy. When Andy claims not to have seen him though he’s arrested, while CCTV footage could give away the real culprit when Kevin spots a hooded figure taking a jerry can.

Leanne is forced to confess she has no alibi as her lies are rumbled, and soon she’s urged to go to the police. Meanwhile in the fallout to her showdown with Toyah, Abi sparks concern when she vanishes with young son Alfie. She confesses to husband Kevin that she’s been suffering hallucinations and sees Seb everywhere she looks, but will she get the help she needs?

Finally next week Carla Connor tells partner Lisa Swain that the doctors are running tests to determine whether Rob is or isn’t a kidney match. If he is, she will need to pay a deposit. But when Carla tells her brother that he’ll be tested in the prison and not a hospital he’s clearly annoyed – so will his real intentions be exposed?

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
