Coronation Street’s latest episode saw Amy Barlow left concerned, after her grandfather Ken Barlow confessed to offering a temporary loan to Cassie Plummer on the ITV soap
One Coronation Street resident could finally be onto schemer Cassie Plummer amid her targeting soap icon Ken Barlow.
Viewers were horrified weeks ago when Ken’s carer Cassie poisoned him after putting medication in his tea. She was almost caught out as Ken suffered a health scare as a result and was rushed to hospital.
Cassie was in the firing line and accused of drugging the pensioner, only for his daughter Tracy Barlow to be framed. Tracy had dropped Ken’s pill box containing his daily meds, and when picking them back up there’s a possibility she put them in the wrong place.
So when it emerged Ken had had too many of his pills, Tracy was accused of being the cause of this due to her blunder. She was adamant she wasn’t to blame but could not deny her mistake.
As a result Ken believed Cassie, who has been eager to get her hands on Ken’s savings, was innocent and he gave her her job back. Other family members also scolded Tracy and apologised to Cassie, who was hiding her true guilt.
In recent episodes we’ve seen her looking up pills that cause drowsiness, no doubt wanting to target Ken so that he wants her around. It’s not quite clear what she’s planning, but it seems she’s desperate to stay in his life and his home so that he will give her money, and aid a life of luxury for her.

But someone might be about to expose Cassie ahead of Tracy issuing a warning to her loved ones. Cassie burst into tears on Monday night, leaving Ken concerned for his friend.
She soon claimed she was upset because she’d racked up a credit card debt buying Christmas presents for her family. Cassie told Ken she was keeping it a secret from her loved ones, but was struggling to pay what she owed.
Ken decided to help Cassie out telling her he’d give her a temporary loan that she could pay back to him. Later in the episode, Amy was concerned when her grandfather told her everything.
As she questioned the loan she was seen pulling a face, clearly not convinced by his or Cassie’s story. Amy wondered whether Cassie was lying, worried about Ken giving her the money.
Amy asked Ken if he was being scammed, not sure why Cassie would need the money but Ken insisted all was fine. So despite all clues pointing to Tracy being the one to rumble and bring down Cassie, might it actually be her daughter Amy?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
