Gail will be haunted by her late ex.
Coronation Street is reportedly planning a ghostly return for notorious serial killer Richard Hillman.
The character met his demise in 2003 after a dramatic car crash into a canal, following a murder spree and an attempt to kidnap Gail Rodwell – who was his wife at the time – and her children.
According to The Sun, Brian Capron is set to reprise his iconic role as part of Helen Worth’s upcoming exit as Gail.

While nothing has been officially confirmed by the soap, an insider reportedly told the publication that Richard will appear to Gail as a ghost.
Last year, Capron reflected on his time playing the iconic killer over 20 years ago, saying that is was a “bit of luck” getting the role after having originally been on the show briefly in 1982.

“After I started, Coronation Street went back to long-burn storylines,” he added. “The writers saw something in Richard and moved him to centre stage. I got my first one-hour special when Duggie died. It was a brilliant storyline with so many twists and turns.”
“I have to thank the writers. I was just in the right place at the right time. I’m very grateful to Richard and Coronation Street because the role gave me a leg up. To get something like Coronation Street in my 50s gave me another 20 years. I’m [over] 70 years old and I’m still working. I’m incredibly lucky.”
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
