Coronation Street fans might finally find out the mystery character seemingly targeting Chesney Brown with his van on the ITV soap in the coming weeks
The mystery surrounding the bizarre Chesney Brown plot on Coronation Street that kicked off recently might finally be solved.
For weeks fans have wondered who the mystery driver is Chesney has been feuding with without them actually meeting. It started when a van scraped his car after he blocked them in in a car park.
The same van then nearly ran Chesney over, almost colliding with the car too. Later on there was another moment were Chesney spotted the van near his house, before he poured sugar into the van’s fuel tank as revenge.
We are no closer to finding out who is the van driver amid theories it’s a past character or maybe recently killed off Les Battersby. Now, Corrie boss Kate Brooks may have revealed who the character is ahead of a “chaotic” new family joining the show.
There’s a hint the van driver is someone we haven’t met yet but they could be moving to Weatherfield. While this is not confirmed, something Kate told The Mirror about the new family may have hinted that one of the new characters has already met Chesney.

Kate told us: “We’ve got some great characters coming in. They are Mick and Lou. They’re coming to live at the back of Chesney, on Maudsley Street, across the ginnell.
“They are live wires, they are ruffians, they are going to cause a lot of damage and a lot of chaos. There is a link to Chesney initially, but they are coming to stir up a lot of trouble, and open up the floodgates and unpack the past of one of our big characters, which is Kit.”
So what does Kate mean by the link to Chesney? Could the link be that the new character, Mick, is the mystery van driver who has clashed with him for the past few weeks?
Kate went on about the arrivals: “So, really interesting, wonderful and dynamic stuff that’s going to be fantastic. We’re really excited, they come in with oodles of drama. They are shaking things up. They’re neighbours from hell. They’re overfamiliar, likeable and they’ve got kids. Initially they develop a friendship with Chesney and Gemma, but there are other things to unpack.
“I wouldn’t want to get on the wrong side of them, especially Mick! They are brilliant actors. They are coming to cause some chaos on the street, and they will leave a trail of devastation… They’re coming on the street all guns blazing and will land on screen around February time. Really chaotic but really enjoyable. They have a charm to them, but they do and say things that you shouldn’t!”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
