Coronation Street legend Maureen Lipman issues major update on real-life wedding

Coronation Street legend Maureen Lipman has issued an update on her real-life wedding, and it is shaping up to be quite the event!

The Evelyn Plummer actress proposed to fiancé David Turner in the summer, but they have insisted that they are in no rush to tie the knot.

Speaking about the proposal on Lorraine, Maureen previously said: ‘We are astounded by the fact you can have a love affair at this age.’

‘We sort of talked about marriage but in a kind of way. We were coming back on a train from Edinburgh and he is very learned about the Jewish faith and he said “it’s Tu B’Av”, it’s a day where a woman can ask a man to marry them.

‘It was just for gag really. I slipped under the table and he asked what I was doing and I said “Will you marry me?”‘

She continued: ‘And he said “Yes, yes” and then I was folded under and couldn’t get out.’

Now, she has revealed to The Mirror that they are on the hunt for wedding venues, despite not having selected a date yet.

‘I haven’t got a date or a venue but we’re looking,’ she explained, ‘The thing is, we are married, really. I still can’t believe this is going to happen. We’ll probably be engaged for about another five years – we’ll get married in hospital.’

It was then that former Strictly judge Arlene Phillips announced that she would be choreographing the couple’s first dance.

‘I’m staging the choreography for the wedding dance,’ she said, ‘We’ll create for you so you don’t have to stomp – it will be different, no ordinary ball.’

The Evelyn Plummer actress recently revealed that she has signed another year’s contract for the ITV soap, much to the delight of fans.
