Coronation Street killer Clayton Hibbs to make dramatic return

He was last seen in 2020.

Coronation Street star Callum Harrison will make a return to the soap, with the actor set to reprise his role as Clayton Hibbs.

The killer was last seen on the ITV soap in 2020, with his mother, Shona, visiting him in prison as he spent time behind bars for the murder of Kylie Platt in 2016.

Over four years since his last appearance, The Sun has reported that Harrison is making a comeback on the show, with the actor having already filmed his new scenes.

While it’s unknown how Clayton will be involved with the current residents of Weatherfield, it seems likely that his growing influence will impact David Platt, who still harbours traumatic memories from the death of his then-wife.

While Clayton will be seen on-screen soon, one current storyline has seen Lisa Swain and Carla Connor both tentatively exploring their potential romantic connection, with the pair reluctant to admit their true feelings for each other.

In a recent interview, Vicky Myers – who has played Lisa since 2021 – explained that her character is taking things slowly following the death of her previous wife, adding that she was “petrified” to trust people.

“The grief, the way that it’s now moulded her and built up this harsh exterior and this façade, means she’s so deeply broken that it’s all from fear,” Myers said. “She is petrified of opening up.

“She’s petrified of loving somebody and even getting into a relationship again. Because again, she doesn’t trust herself, and we’ve already seen her saying that she doesn’t need any complications.

“She will fall in love, and she knows that about herself, because she feels things really personally and deeply, and she just doesn’t want to go there right now. But who knows? Maybe the feelings will become too strong.”

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
