Joel Deering has been causing chaos ever since he stepped foot in Weatherfield and Coronation Street viewers are convinced his days on the cobbles are numbered
Coronation Street fans are convinced they’ve worked out when Joel Deering (Calum Lill) will exit the ITV soap following reports that actor Calum Lil is leaving after just one year.
Fans already know Joel has been grooming and abusing young girls and is responsible for trying to kill Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton).
Viewers watched as he drugged the youngster in attempt to kill their unborn baby – but his plan backfired when she went into early labour and the baby survived.
However, it has been revealed that Joel’s downfall is only around the corner as fiancee Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) begins to question some of his twisted lies and now knows Joel is baby Frankie’s father.
Following reports that Calum is leaving his role as Joel, fans are convinced that Joel will end up leaving Weatherfield during the soap’s “super soap week” which usually takes place in October.
Taking to Reddit, one fan posted: “Boy have they dragged this out…. It feels like the Lauren/Joel storyline has gone on for more than half a year. It looks like things are unravelling a bit now but I still think it’ll be dragged out even further until super soap week (first week of Oct). What do you think? Will it go on for much longer?”
Another platform user replied: “I sure hope so!! I’m hoping they don’t cook up another diversion, and another and another so that it drags for another 3 months.”
Someone else shared on X, formerly known as Twitter: “I believe during the #SuperSoapWeek the Joel storyline comes to a conclusion in October, but it could change as #Corrie recently had a change of personnel so storylines might be continued further! Just watched this space John!”
Actor Calum has previously opened up about feeling emotional about his potential exit from the soap – realising that playing
“I think it’s bittersweet for me,” he told press. “As an actor, it’s getting more and more juicy, but as soon as this comes to a climax, I leave this incredible place filled with so many people I’ve come to know and love and been some of my best friends over the last 18 months.
“I’m very excited to get to the end of the story, but it will be very bittersweet because it’s the most incredible place to work.”
Calum has landed a role playing villainous Fleshcreep in the production of popular pantomime Jack and Beanstalk which runs from December 2024 to January 2025.
