Dame Maureen Lipman appeared on ITV’s Lorraine on Thursday morning where the Coronation Street legend shared some lovely news
Coronation Street icon Dame Maureen Lipman appeared on ITV’s Lorraine on Thurday, November 14 and shared details of a marriage proposal away from the ITV soap.
For the legendary actress told host Lorraine Kelly that she’s getting married again at the age of 78. Maureen – who plays the no-nonsense Evelyn Plummer on the long-running ITV soap – is engaged to partner David Turner. She has been married once before to Corrie writer Jack Rosenthal from 1974 until his death from cancer in 2004.
During her appearance on Lorraine, the host asked: “In real true life, you’re planning a wedding. Are you planning a wedding? Is it all happening?”
Maureen confirmed the happy news saying: “The very mention of the word ‘venue’ fills me with fear.”
She added: “We are astounded that you can have a love affair at this age. We had sort of talked about marriage but in a kind of ha ha ha way.”

Earlier this week, Lorraine was left stunned as she learnt Coleen Rooney’s rumoured fee for her upcoming stint on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!
As Lorraine weighed in on the line-up during Tuesday’s show, she remarked: “Now look, Coleen Rooney is the one a lot of people are talking about, right?”
“She is leaving behind all of her boys, including her husband, she has had to be so organised before she went away!” To which co-star, Tyler West, said: “She really has! She’s apparently getting paid £1.5million to be in the jungle.”
This piece of information evidently stunned Lorraine, who uttered in a two-word response: “Oh, wow!”
Lorraine is on ITV1 weekdays at 9am and on ITVX
