Coronation Street first look at deadly inferno as sad death ‘sealed’ and culprit teased

Coronation Street has officially shared first-look photos of the devastating blaze that tears through the Platts’ home next month on the ITV soap, with new spoilers teasing a death

New pictures show the moment Weatherfield explodes, as one house on Coronation Street is set alight leaving lives on the line.

A shock death or two is massively teased, as a fire tears through the home of the Platt family. As David Platt continues to pay the price for crossing villain Harvey Gaskell, it’s his loved ones that could suffer the consequences.

Explosive new photos reveal the moment the whole house is engulfed by flames, as shocked bystanders fear the worst. New spoilers have teased which characters could be impacted, and which characters are possibly inside at the time of the blaze.

It’s hinted that more than one character could lose their life, as the fireball tears through the home causing an almighty explosion on the street. New images show David and wife Shona screaming in terror as they are blown back by the blast.

As they sob, a number of other horrified residents watch on as the house blows up with images also showing more than one character inside. Nick Tilsley, Toyah Battersby, Max Turner and possibly Abi Franklin are all shown in the house at some stage – but as the building explodes who will make it out alive?

It’s safe to say there’s devastation ahead in scenes that will no doubt have a huge impact on residents. But can any of those in the house be saved?

There’s also going to be suspicions over the cause of the fire when it emerges that it is arson. So has Harvey or Logan taken their brutal revenge on David and the Platts? Or could someone else be to blame?

Some of the street’s residents find themselves under the spotlight and facing accusations – but who would have done such a thing? A hooded figure is shown starting the fire, shoving a petrol soaked rag through the letterbox.

With Toyah and some of the kids missing, after Ruby, Lily, Sam and Hope sneak into the house prior to the blaze, there’s fears about who may be trapped inside. As other residents, shown in the images, rush in to help it could be anyone left fighting for their lives.

Abi, David and Leanne all appear to be suspects, as well as Harvey and his gang. Abi attacks Toyah it seems during a PTSD episode, but will she really have gone one step further and torched the house with Toyah inside? Would Leanne Battersby really go as far for revenge on Nick and Toyah and do the same?

How desperate is David to get Harvey off his back? Viewers will have to tune in to find out who is responsible and who survives in the coming weeks.

News of a fire tearing through the home of the Platts was reported late last year, with pictures from location appearing to confirm the news. Corrie boss Kate Brooks had confirmed to the Mirror in December that the Platts would be involved in a huge stunt too

An insider also informed the Mirror that the fire was on the cards, teasing what was ahead. They told us there is going to be “a big stunt episode” that focuses on all the drama, and that what happens in the episode will have “huge consequences for the whole family”.

One character left seriously impacted by the stunt is David, who will be left “contemplating his whole future” as his actions catch up with him, and he faces somewhat of a downfall. It’s definitely a big episode to watch out for.

The recent confirmation exclusively to The Mirror that Max Turner actor Paddy Bever is leaving the role soon has also left fans worried. With images appearing to show him in the blaze with others, is he about to be killed off?

Viewers certainly think so, believing they have worked out how Max leaves the show ahead of his exit storyline being confirmed. Taking to social media, one fan said: “I can’t bear the thought of Max dying!” As a second wrote: “So if someone (Max) dies in the house fire, is this a possible kidney donor for Carla?!” Another fan guessed: “Max is going out of Corrie it’s probably him.”

A fourth fan posted: “Poor Max,” as a fifth wrote: “The Platt fire is about the Platts. It’s their storyline which i’m assuming ties in with Max’s exit.” It comes as actor Paddy told the Mirror, ahead of his exit that is said to be airing in early spring: “After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max, and Coronation Street, to explore new opportunities. I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way.

“It’s been a great privilege to contribute to the legacy of such a well-loved and iconic show. This chapter has been unforgettable and while I look forward to what lies ahead, I will treasure these memories.”

Max’s final scenes are thought to have been filmed, after Paddy informed bosses of his decision last March. Kate had teased a big stunt to us back in December, saying: “It all comes to a massive head in early February, when we play a massive stunt that has huge consequences for David. So, in trying to protect everyone and do the right thing, he ends up losing quite a few things that he holds dear.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
