Coronation Street viewers were left moved as one former character made somewhat of a return to the ITV soap on Wednesday, four years after being killed off
There were emotional scenes on Coronation Street on Wednesday night, as the soap aired a surprise return after four years.
But in a sad twist it was a hallucination, with a dead character coming back as part of a heart-wrenching scene. Abi Franklin was reunited with her late son, tragic Seb Franklin.
Seb was murdered in a horrifying attack back in 2021, with him fatally injured while trying to protect his girlfriend Nina Lucas. Seb passed away leaving his loved ones and mum Abi inconsolable.
Recent weeks have seen Abi struggling once more, following the murder of teenager Mason Radcliffe in a sickening knife crime plot. Mason was bleeding to death with Abi trying to save his life, after finding him wounded after he was attacked by his own brothers.
Abi was left traumatised by what she witnessed, with Mason dying in hospital. She’s struggled with flashbacks, nightmares and hallucinations ever since, with the ordeal triggering painful memories from when she lost her son Seb four years ago.
In the latest episode on Wednesday night, we saw Abi sobbing as she battled with trauma. In touching scenes she was reunited with Seb who appeared to her, before he comforted her.

Seb actor Harry Visinoni reprised the role for the emotional scenes, returning to filming for the moment with Abi. Within minutes Seb was gone, and Abi was left alone crying, not yet confiding in husband Kevin Webster about what she is going through.
Taking to X, viewers reacted to the emotional scenes. One viewer posted: “Awww Seb & Abi.” Another viewer posted: “Oh, God, now Seb’s ghost. Too much!” As a third wrote: “Abi and Seb” with a sad face emoji.
Meanwhile one fan posted: “Corrie bringing back Dead Seb and Dead Mason for Abi’s hallucinations. I still expect to see Becky Swain at some point while the show is pulling this supernatural nonsense.” Another commented: “That scene with Abi and Seb was actually so heartbreaking,” with a further tweet saying: “Omg the ghostly Seb.”
It comes amid more upset on the way for Abi and Kevin, with Kevin diagnosed with testicular cancer in the coming weeks. The storyline kicks off this week, with Abi and Kevin unable to turn to each other in their times of need.
The illness is set to come between the couple amid both of them facing turmoil. But can the pair make it through?
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
