Coronation Street’s Damon was left startled after realising his secret bag of cash had been swiped – but viewers are certain they know who exactly took it
Coronation Street viewers are certain they know who stole Damon Hay’s robbery stash – and it wasn’t Jesse Chadwick or Adam Barlow. Bad boy Damon (Ciarán Griffiths) recently found out about Bethany Platt’s (Lucy Fallon) surgery horror. As fans will recall, she was hospitalised recently with sepsis, a perforated bowel and pneumonia, following a botched surgery abroad.
She now has to live with a permanent stoma. After Damon, who was in an on-and-off relationship with her mum Sarah (Tina O’Brien), heard about Bethany and the mounting medical bills from prison, he reached out offering to pay.
Damon said he would fork out the cash with money he had hidden away – which was retrieved in an armed robbery. However, Sarah didn’t hear Damon’s voicemail; instead, Adam (Sam Robertson) came across it.

After chatting to his uncle, Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), Adam was ordered to delete the voicemail, as the money was stolen. This week, the pair were discussing the money when Adam was approached by Jesse Chadwick (John Thomson) – the new beau of Gail Platt (Helen Worth).
Later on though, Adam came clean to Sarah, after her mother Gail put their home up for sale to help pay for Bethany’s bills. Sarah then spoke to Damon, and he revealed to her that the money had been taken from the lock-up, presuming Sarah had collected it.

However, Sarah straight away told him that she hadn’t gone near it. A startled Damon was left floored as his associate checked the lock-up and found the money missing, meaning someone else had bagged it.
What’s more, spoilers for next week reveal that Adam is left shocked at the news, appearing to hint that he wasn’t behind the robbery. Jesse is also questioned – but fans are convinced it’s not actually him.
Fans reckon it was David who stole it
Sharing their thoughts on a Corrie Facebook fan page, viewers are certain that it was actually David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) who has been left fuming recently, following Gail putting their home up for sale, meaning he is going to be homeless.
“David took the money he looked well shifty!” proclaimed one person. Someone else agreed and wrote: “David, so he can buy the house.” A third chimed in and wrote: “I think David,” as another person replied: “100%.”
Coronation Street airs Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX
