It came as fans saw the aftermath of Carla Connor being taken hostage with Lisa rescuing her girlfriend
Coronation Street fans think they have ‘worked out’ what’s next for DS Lisa Swain as fans saw Rob Donovan escape – leaving her daughter fearing for their lives.
During Tuesday night’s (February 18) edition of the ITV soap, fans saw the aftermath of Carla Connor being taken hostage by Rob’s girlfriend, prison officer Mandy, as he changed his plan of escape.
Carla was woken from her recovery after undergoing a kidney transplant by Mandy. She sprung into action after Rob woke from the transplant op and was paid a visit by Lisa who confirmed she would not go ahead with their deal, to get his murder conviction overturned, after discovering he relationship with Mandy and working out his plan to dodge going back to prison.
Furious with Lisa, Rob set about executing another plan, which saw the prison officer and Rob’s secret partner Mandy sneak into Carla’s hospital room, put her in a wheelchair and say she’d use her gun if Carla didn’t comply with her demands.
Mandy put Carla in another room and said they’d wait for Rob, who was seen in Lisa’s car after stealing another officer’s clothes and sneaking out of the hospital himself. He ended up attacking Lisa as he realised she was attempting to make a phone call.
Rob eventually made it to the room where Mandy and Carla were waiting. He was shocked to find out about Mandy’s pregnancy and realising she had been used, she left. Rob attempted to follow suit. But Carla found the energy to push her brother down the stairs, and a weakened Rob, as a result of his surgery, saw him fall over the balcony, with Lisa finding him at the bottom.
During Tuesday night’s (February 18) next Corrie instalment, Lisa confirmed Rob as dead when she couldn’t find a pulse. With Carla dangerously ill, Lisa wanted to get her to the hospital and when DC Kit Green arrived and wanted to go and secure the scene of Rob’s death, Lisa insisted that he take her and Carla to hospital instead.
With Kit now busy taking Carla back to the hospital, the other police officers arrived at the abandoned office block they found that Rob wasn’t dead at all as he’d taken her car and was on the run.

When Carla heard that Rob wasn’t dead but was on the run, she quickly feared that Lisa and her daughter Betsy Swain might be in danger after seeing first-hand the violent side of her sibling. Betsy was also scared, pleading with her mum to quit the force as she can’t help but fear for her every time she leaves for work following the death of her other mum, Becky, in the line of duty.
With Lisa’s job already on the line, Corrie fans have wondered if there’s an alternative career Lisa can take as they predict Betsy will to get through to her.

@NicolaHynes1 added: “I’m hoping thats where she is on Monday. She’s talking to her superiors and she turns up at the end nd confirms she’s either been suspended or she’s taking a leave of absence..and yeah imagine her helping Carla get the factory back up and running to where it needs to be.”
