It comes after Charlotte Jordan confirmed that she will be bowing out of the ITV soap this year after four years in the role
Coronation Street fans have ‘worked out’ who they think will be exit to leave the cobbles as it was revealed Daisy Midgeley won’t be staying in Weatherfield for much longer.
Actress Charlotte Jordan has confirmed that she will be bowing out of the ITV soap this year after four years in the role. The star said in a statement: “My time at Coronation Street is something I’ll always cherish.
“After a brilliant four years for Daisy, it’s time for me to start a new chapter and explore other opportunities.” She added: “It’s been a privilege to be part of a wonderful institution with even more wonderful colleagues who have taught me so much.”
Charlotte arrived on the cobbles as Daisy back in 2020 and in a few short years has been part of some of the ITV soaps’ biggest storylines. She won the British Soap Award for Best Dramatic Performance after Daisy was the victim of a wedding day acid attack by stalker Justin Rutherford and an RTS North West Award for Best Performance in a Continuing Drama.
Daisy later plotted her way into co-owning the Rovers Return with Jenny Connor and is now in the midst of a ‘who’s the daddy’ storyline after discovering she’s pregnant with the baby of ex Daniel Osbourne or new lover Kit Green.
With her exit confirmed amid her new storyline, Corrie fans have wondered whether Daisy will finally get her happy ever after as they predicted – and pleaded – for her to finally end up with her ex-fiance Daniel, played by Rob Mallard.
@daisysmidgeley said: “Can they announce a daniel exit next so i can convince myself they’ll leave happily together'”. @reputationvault commented: “As much as I want Rob to stay I need them to play it as they both move off the street and start life over with Bertie and their new baby.” @sapphicsukeve added: “Don’t be shy corrie announce rob mallards exit next. daisy & daniel endgame no matter the circumstances xxx.”
Confirmation of Charlotte’s exit comes after Colson Smith confirmed he was told he is being axed this year as he marks 14 years playing Craig Tinker.
Meanwhile, Sue Cleaver has also announced her plans to wave goodbye to Weatherfield after 25 years in the role of Eileen Grimshaw. She said: “I’ve had 25 privileged years of working on Coronation Street. The door is still firmly open, but as I reached my 60th year I decided it was time to embrace change, look for new adventures and live fearlessly.”
Her exit will come shortly after that of her on-screen frenemy Gail Platt. Helen Worth was seen bowing out of the long-running soap on Christmas Day after spending 50 years in the iconic role of the Platt matriarch. It has also been rumoured that Sue Devaney has been axed from the show as Debbie Webster.
