Coronation Street fans ‘work out’ Joel Deering’s exit as Dee-Dee Bailey signals ‘end’

Dee-Dee Bailey confirmed it was the ‘beginning of the end’ of her former fiance in the ITV soap

Coronation Street fans have ‘worked out’ how Joel Deering will exit Weatherfield as Dee-Dee Bailey confirmed it was the ‘beginning of the end’ of her former fiance.

As viewers of the ITV soap know, Dee-Dee has joined forces with DS Lisa Swain and Lauren Bolton to bring Joel down once and for all after she discovered that he had groomed teenager Lauren before almost beating her to death and getting her pregnant.

Lauren was presumed dead following her sudden disappearance back in February after she was sacked from her job at Roys Rolls and later being visited by a mystery person, who viewers never got to see. However, three months after she left without a trace, in May, it was confirmed that it was Joel who was behind her disappearance.

A flashback clip revealed at the time that the solicitor as being Lauren’s secret ‘boyfriend’ and saw him brutally attack her with a chair leg. Then, when she returned to visit an ill Roy in July, Joel accosted her in the hospital where an intense confrontation ensued and the truth about their relationship was exposed.

Now, Joel is currently doing everything he can to evade being nailed by DS Swain for grooming Lauren and later giving her a drug that saw her go into early labour with their son, Frankie.

During Monday night’s (September 16) Corrie, viewers saw Dee-Dee and Lisa trying to convinve Ellie, another teenager Joel had groomed and abused, to make an official statement to help them get her and Lauren justice for what he has done to them.

However, a freaked out Ellie refused, claiming Joel would kill her. It wasn’t until she visted Lauren and baby Frankie in the hospital that she had a change of heart and later spoke to Dee-Dee and Swain about what had happened to her – and how it was being covered up by the solicitors he previously worked for.

Dee-Dee later visited the solicitors and managed to quash the non-disclosure agreement (NDA) Ellie had signed and got the owner for the solictors to agree to give a formal statement. As she confidently returned to Weatherfield, Dee-Dee bumped into Joel.

When asked if she was busy with work, Dee-Dee replied: “I am always busy, me. I am learning to play the banjo.” Joel appeared baffled as he replied: “Oh right,” before his ex taunted: “Actually, I am getting quite good.” Joel replied: “Well maybe one day I’ll see you busking on these streets,” to which Dee-Dee said: “Maybe, that’s assuming you’ll be free to walk these streets,” before ominously walking off.

Later, Dee-Dee and Swain headed to speak to Lauren with Swain revealing permission had been granted to re-open the case into Joel. And before the credits rolled on the latest epsiode, Dee-Dee exclaimed: “This is the beginning of the end for Joel Deering.”

And Corrie fans think there is only one way he’ll be leaving the street. One said, alongside a picture of Swain: “I don’t think Joel will go to prison. They won’t drag a trial out for this storyline, he’s meeting his maker and his maker is this woman. I just have a feeling she’ll go all Clarice Starling on him. #corrie.”

Another commented: “Random theory but Joel is gunna get killed with a whodunnit attached and the three women who hate him most will be in the frame #corrie.” A third asked: “#Corrie are we gearing up for Who Killed Joel?”

Another shared: “I think Swain will shoot Joel dead. Cop mode on, she’ll do it to protect her women. (Carla, Dee Dee and Betsy) #corrie I definitely think Joel’s time is up and he will be killed off!” A fifth added: “I definitely think Joel’s time is up and he will be killed off!”
