Coronation Street fans are convinced they know who Dr Gaddas’ new love interest is – and it’s a cobbles legend
Corrie fans are abuzz with speculation over who might capture the heart of Dr Susan Gaddas.
The reliable GP (portrayed by Christine Mackie) from Rosamund Street Medical Centre, has been a staple on the show since 2014. Over the years, she’s seen all sorts of patients walk into her surgery for help.
Including Abi Webster (played by Sally Carman) who’s been grappling with grief after the loss of Mason Radcliffe (Luca Toolan), and even has visions of the dearly departed Seb Franklin (Harry Visinoni).
Despite her familiar face, Dr Gaddas’ private life remains a bit of a mystery to viewers, including what brought her to the bustling life of Weatherfield. But the latest buzz suggests that the doctor could soon be wrapped in a whirlwind romance fitting for the cobbles — with none other than one of Weatherfield’s most iconic characters.
One eagle-eyed fan voiced their intrigue about the doctor on a Corrie Facebook fan page, querying, “Thoughts on Dr Gaddas? ” This led to a flurry of excitement and calls for more screen time: “I want a storyline about her. I need to know her back story…”
Fans then started pitching their romantic hopes for her, with Ken Barlow (William Roache) and Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) being the leading candidates for her affection. Enthusiasm for this potential love plot bubbled up as another viewer remarked, “I’d like her with Ken! ” while someone else emphatically agreed, “I’ve always said that.”
However, some viewers were quick to note that previous episodes have indeed mentioned that Dr Gaddas has a wife, reports Plymouth Live. They remarked: “She has a wife but she could be bisexual. She could be poly.”
A subsequent response was: “Maybe she starts a romance with Yasmeen then – and that’s Yasmeen’s exit storyline.”
Dr Gaddas actor Christine Mackie recently opened up about her character’s popularity among fans. While speaking on the ‘Conversation Street’ podcast, she expressed: “I do know from my experience over the 10 years that people love Gaddas.
“And I’m deeply grateful that they do. People are so nice about her. People always want to talk about her and how she is,” she continued. Christine further commented: “I think it’s because she’s like the doctor you can’t quite have anymore because the relationship is so changed for us, there’s this little bit of nostalgia.
“At the same time she’s very much in the moment and very present when she’s doing everything, so she’s absolutely involved and has affection for the characters.”
