Coronation Street fans ‘work out’ Carla Connor and DS Lisa Swain’s next ‘big thing’ after Rob Donovan drama

It’s fair to say that Weatherfield’s hottest new couple haven’t had the easiest start to their relationship

Coronation Street fans think they have ‘worked out’ the next ‘big thing’ set to happen for popular couple Carla Connor and Lisa Swain after it was revealed they’ll face more drama at the hands of Rob Donovan.

It’s fair to say that Weatherfield’s hottest new couple haven’t had the easiest start to their relationship with Lisa’s job keeping her busy and an unexpected decline in Carla’s health at the start of the year.

But things are set to get even more intense for the lovebirds when Carla’s brother Rob returns and demands his sister’s help. As fans know, Carla was rushed to hospital with sepsis and was later informed by a doctor she’d have to undergo a kidney transplant.

After not wanting her family to consider being donors, Rob was approached by his son, Bobby Crawford, who encouraged him to help his older sister as her life hung in the balance.

While he originally pushed back over Bobby’s request, Rob later agreed to be tested but his true motives were made clear. Fast forward to being confirmed as a match and undergoing the operation, Carla was woken from her recovery by prison officer Mandy, who believed she was in a loving relationship with Rob, when really it was all for his own gain as he plotted to escape prison.

The drama eventually saw Rob use Lisa to get to the abandoned office block where Mandy was waiting with a poorly Carla, before attacking her as she secretly tried to call her colleague DC Kit Green.

Once with Carla, Rob was shocked to find out about Mandy’s pregnancy and realising she had been used, she left. Rob attempted to follow suit. But Carla found the energy to push her brother down the stairs, and a weakened Rob, as a result of his surgery, saw him fall over the balcony, with Lisa finding him at the bottom.

She declared him dead and focused on getting Carla back to hospital, with Kit’s help. But when the detective constable later returned to the scene, he was informed that Rob must have been alive as he was gone.

A trailer has since been released that teases what’s to come on the cobbles in March, which has confirmed Rob’s shock return to the Street. He will return to Weatherfield to seek out his sister Carla and demand she helps him escape.

As armed police surround the house, will Carla and Lisa escape? As a shot rings out, who is the latest victim of Rob’s desperate bid to be a free man?

With it not clear how the scenes will end, Corrie fans are hopeful for Carla and Lisa’s future and think they know what will naturally be next for the couple after their ordeal.

@midnightswarla asked: “So Yasmeens off soon, and the house might be up for sale, but also the Platts house is being done up too- which one do we think Swarla will get?” @NicolaHynes1 replied: “Yesh i think it’s their next big thing after the rob stuff. If they buy the platts then they will take time doing it up. But yasmeens if they want something move in ready.”

@SamanthaC261 shared: “I’m hoping the Platt’s as it’ll be a total blank canvas and they can put their own stamp on it! Happy with either though.” @TheConnorSwains previously said: “Yasmeen’s house will go on the market next month….. Carla & Lisa will be pillow fighting in their new home before we know it! #Swarla #Corrie.”

@LisasCrisps added: “So I’m thinking this prompts Carla to want to move and they’ll end up getting one of the houses on the street and make it the Connor-Swain family home! (Yes I’m trying to see the positive side of this) #Swarla #Corrie.”
