There has been confirmation that Rob will return to Weatherfield, potentially for one final time

Coronation Street fans think they have spotted a ‘forwarning’ that confirms DS Lisa Swain will be shot in stand-off with Rob Donovan.

A dramatic new trailer released on Friday (February 28) revealed the drama that’s to come in the ITV soap in March, including confirmation that Rob will return to Weatherfield, potentially for one final time.

Rob has been on the run ever since he survived a fall from a height when his sister Carla Connor fought back during her kidnap horror.

As fans know, Carla is recovering from a kidney transplant after Rob after he only agreed to be a donor in order to escape prison where he’s behind bars for killing Tina McIntyre back in 2014.

Rob came to Carla’s rescue when it was revealed she’d need another kidney transplant after contracting sepsis, after he was approached by his son, Bobby Crawford. But it was soon made clear that Rob’s intentions weren’t good ones as he plotted his escape.

His plan didn’t end up quite going the way he hoped as Rob used Lisa to get to the abandoned warehouse where is prison officer girlfriend Mandy was waiting with a poorly Carla. He was shocked to find out about Mandy’s pregnancy, causing an outburst, and realising she had been used, she left.

Rob attempted to follow suit. But Carla found the energy to push her brother down the stairs and a weakened Rob as a result of his surgery saw him fall over the balcony, with Lisa finding him at the bottom.

She declared him dead but when the police arrived, the murderer was nowhere to be found. And in upcoming scenes, Rob will make his way back onto the Street where he’ll seek out Carla and demand she helps him escape.

As armed police surround the house, will Carla and Lisa escape? As a shot rings out, who is the latest victim of Rob’s desperate bid to be a free man?

Following the release of the trailer, Corrie fans have recalled a moment in which Lisa was heard talking about her teenage daughter, Betsy and saying she’d take a bullet for her. They think this hints at what happens to Lisa in the stand-off as they also believe Betsy could all be part of Rob’s ploy to get what he wants.
