Coronation Street fans say ‘I’m wondering’ as Ken Barlow mystery deepens

Fans have questions about Ken’s home on the cobbles

There is a fresh mystery surrounding Ken Barlow in Coronation Street – or should we say his beloved home. William Roache was one of the programme’s first actors, having made his debut in the soap’s very first episode in 1960 as Ken.

Fast forward more than six decades and the acting legend is still appearing in the ITV favourite as the Barlow patriarch – with seemingly no plans to stop – and is currently the world’s longest-serving television actor in a continuous role.

The Nottingham-born actor, who now lives in Wilmslow, Cheshire, has been a part of British soap’s most iconic storylines – including his love triangle with Mike Baldwin and Deirdre Barlow that gripped the nation in 1982 and in 2017 was at the centre of a “whodunit” after Ken was pushed down the stairs by an unknown assailant, later confirmed to be his son Daniel Osbourne.

But currently, it’s Ken’s home getting all the attention as No.1 is set to see a new lodger move in. In recent months, Cassie Plummer has found herself in the fold at No.1 Coronation Street, having become Ken’s carer after he fell down the stairs and fractured his pelvis. But when he eventually decided it was time to let her go, Cassie took drastic action and was seen spiking Ken’s drinks.

Things then took a dramatic turn when Ken was rushed to hospital, but Cassie escaped when Tracy Barlow was blamed for mixing up Ken’s medication which she dropped on the floor. Cassie has since changed to spiking the Weatherfield stalwart with antihistamines while she continues to get closer to him.

And it’s seemingly worked as she avoided being caught out following her latest close call, leading to Ken ordering an apology from Tracy Barlow to Cassie and asking the latter to move in.

But some Corrie fans are baffled by the space at No.1 @jackie29m asked: “How many rooms in Ken’s house?” @bluejue66 joked: “Maybe Ken’s going to be getting bunk beds for him and Cassie.” @jules_6462 replied: “We literally had this conversation this evening!!! Eileen & Gail’s house are the same !! endless bedrooms!!!”

@jan542694 questioned: “I am wondering how many bedrooms the houses have in the 2 up 2 downs??” @callyoubetty shared: “How many bedrooms and people are in Ken’s house? #Coronationstreet #Corrie.” @djb0607 laughed: “#corrie just to be clear Ken lives in a 2 up 2 down terraced house that used to have a toilet outside! The gaffe must be full of bunk beds?” @debC62a ddedL “Ridiculous storyline with Cassie.Where is she going to sleep at Ken’s .It’s a two bed house.Steve ,Ken and Amy have their own rooms #Corrie.”
