Coronation Street fans say history ‘forgotten’ in Yasmeen Nazir’s exit with character ‘missing’

Coronation Street fans think a bit of history was ‘forgotten’ during Yasmeen Nazir’s exit from Weatherfield. The character was seen saying her goodbyes as she left for London during the ITV soap on Monday (March 10).

Yasmeen had only recently decided to head for pastures new working with a charity in London. In her exit scenes, Yasmeen was seen sitting down her granddaughter Alya in the Rovers to tell her that she’d be leaving sooner rather than later.

She told her: “I had a call from the charity, someone dropped out and they want me to start immediately.” Alya encouraged her to go for the opportunity and Yasmeen happily headed off to pack.

But it wasn’t too long before Yasmeen returned to the Rovers to tell Alya that in the brief time she’d ben away, she’d managed to sell her share of Speed Daal to Leanne Battersby.

Later in the restaurant, Yasmeen’s friends, and Leanne, gathered to say goodbye to Yasmeen. “I’m going to miss you all,” she told them “You’ve been my true friends.”

It was then Alya who helped her to the car to say their final goodbyes. “We have had some trying times on this street,” Yasmeen reflected before Alya shared: “Dad dying, Grandad going, all that stuff with Zeedan.” Yasmeen interjected: “And Geoff,” before Alya positively added: “We survived it all.”

Yasmeen went on to say: “We survived it together, you’v always been my rock. Are you sure you’re OK with me selling my share to Leanne?” She then signed off by saying: “Time to go, be good. I love you.”

But Corrie fans couldn’t help but recall Yasmeen’s relationship with Tim Metcalfe which grew amid his dad Geoff’s abuse of his then-wife.

@GinaLouLoves said: “Tim should have had a goodbye scene with Yasmeen given all their history #Corrie.” @camjmes0 added: “I’m disappointed that we didn’t get a final scene between Tim and Yasmeen as he supported her through the aftermath of the coercive control that Geoff (his dad) put her through. #Corrie.”
