Coronation Street fans ‘rumble’ new Speed Daal owner as Alya left furious

Coronation Street fans think they have worked out who will be the new owner of Speed Daal

Coronation Street fans are buzzing with theories about the new proprietor of Speed Daal.

This week’s episodes see Yasmeen Nazir inform her granddaughter Alya Nazir of a job opportunity in London, prompting her decision to sell her stake in the restaurant.

Next week will be emotional for viewers as Yasmeen announces she has sold her half of Speed Daal and says a heartfelt goodbye to the street after 11 years.

But the drama doesn’t end there. Later in the week, as Alya greets her new business partner, signs of future conflict are teased.

Upcoming scenes show trainee solicitor Alya arriving at work, incensed by an unauthorised menu change.

In a defiant act, Alya tears up the new menu, trying to assert her dominance over her new partner. But how will this power struggle play out, and can they find a way to work together?, reports Leicestershire Live.

Fans have taken to Twitter, now X, to speculate on who might take Yasmeen’s place. One viewer suggested: “With Yasmeen leaving the Street soon, the stage is set for Leanne to take over Speed Daal and drive the Bistro out of business. #corrie” sparking a flurry of responses including: “Leanne and Nick and Toyah will be rivals…”, “My god. I thought this too. Restaurant wars” and “Now there’s a thought.”

Soap fans will remember that Leanne Battersby is nursing a grudge after her fiancé Nick Tilsley left her for her sister Toyah Battersby following their secret romance.

With Leanne trying to get revenge on the two, could she be the new owner of Speed Daal and will she go against the Bistro? Toyah is the joint owner of the Bistro alongside love interest Nick.

Meanwhile, amid the new ownership of Speed Daal, viewers will see a sad exit for Yasmeen actress Shelley King after 11 years.

This comes amidst a wave of departures from Coronation Street, with Max Turner (Paddy Bever), Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan), Eileen Grimshaw (Sue Cleaver), and Craig Tinker (Colson Smith) all set to leave the long-standing ITV soap opera.

Shelley, having shot her last scenes back in December, looks forward to exploring fresh avenues after her extended tenure in Weatherfield.

A TV insider told RadioTimes: “Shelley spoke to producers early last year and advised that after 10 years on the show and being involved in many major storylines during the past decade, she had decided the time had come for her to explore other opportunities.

“Shelley is an accomplished stage and television actress and we fully understand her desire to take her career in another direction after 10 years playing the same role.”

Coronation Street is on ITV1 at 8pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and on ITV X and STV.
