Coronation Street’s Luca Toolan reprised his role as murdered teen Mason Radcliffe for a special scene on the ITV soap on Thursday, amid fans being convinced there’s a twist ahead
Viewers think they’ve worked out a twist involving Coronation Street’s Mason Radcliffe, days on from his horrific murder on the ITV soap.
With the character making somewhat of a return on Thursday night, some viewers are convinced he might still be alive. Sadly it isn’t likely given the horrifying stabbing on Monday night, with the ITV soap tackling the important story of knife crime.
The show had a key message with the storyline and sad episode, with Mason’s cruel death set to have a huge impact on a number of Weatherfield residents for the months to come. So the chance of Corrie reversing the death would not make sense.
That said, fans had hoped a witness protection twist was on the cards after the traumatising scenes aired this week. After former bully Mason had turned his life around, his death at the hands of his evil brothers left viewers devastated.
Mason made a minor return in scenes on Thursday as Abi Franklin struggled to cope with what she had witnessed. She had desperately tried to save Mason, first to find hm injured after the attack.
Abi is now experiencing trauma and hallucinations, and on Thursday night during a walk she saw Mason on the street. Abi freaked out and closed her eyes, with Mason gone when she reopened them.

But the recent scenes have not stopped the theories being shared that Mason could still be alive and in witness protection, ready to take his brothers down for once and for all. Taking to X, one viewer said: “Mason is not dead he’s in witness protection.”
Another Corrie viewer agreed: “So a theory, Mason is in witness protection,” as a third fan posted: “I can see #Corrie bringing Mason back in a couple months time saying he went into witness protection.” A fourth viewer echoed this idea, saying: “I did think this, the police have put him in witness protection.”
Some fans knew it probably wasn’t on the cards, but shared their hopes that this is how the devastating storyline would have turned out amid Mason’s murder. One viewer commented: “I know it’s never going to happen but I would love it if Mason was alive not dead.”
Another heartbroken fan said: “I know it would completely defeat the message of the episode, but I’d love for Mason to secretly be alive and in witness protection. I know it’ll never happen but I’d still love it nonetheless.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
