Coronation Street viewers think there’s a wedding on the way for new couple Swarla, after a handful of scenes on the ITV soap ‘foreshadowed’ the pair could get engaged
There could be wedding bells on Coronation Street soon if the latest hints are anything to go by.
Carla Connor and Lisa Swain recently got together, and despite a couple of hiccups they are on track and in love. So when a handful of scenes in recent episodes heavily teased a marriage was on the horizon, fans were left convinced it was time to buy a hat.
The couple are not engaged, yet, but it hasn’t stopped fans predicting they could tie the knot at some point in 2025. Despite other couples being engaged, there were scenes involving Swarla, as they are known by their fans, and their loved ones that teased big scenes ahead.
From confetti being chucked at the pair, to a wedding magazine with the words ‘I do’ on it and a cryptic comment by the pair, it has certainly sent the rumour mill into a spin. Viewers believe that the pair could be married by the end of the year, in some joyous news for the show amid a harrowing death, a series of exits and some dark scenes ahead.
Taking to X, one viewer said: “Foreshadowing. We are buying a hat then eh Swarla?” Another viewer said: “The classic Corrie foreshadowing,” as a third simply commented: “STOP.”

Another fan listed all the clues, writing: “Mary throwing confetti straight at Swarla, ‘you better not leave me hanging next New Year’s Eve’, ‘Ok Mrs’. Bobby reading a magazine with I do and rings. The foreshadowing is shadowing.”
It comes amid trouble for Carla, as her brother Rob Donovan returns to the show. He’s currently in prison for killing Tina McIntyre, and this week he’s back after eight years offscreen.
Carla is currently in hospital after a recent health battle, which led to her collapsing. She has been warned by doctors that she will need a kidney transplant, with her nephew Bobby seeking out his father Rob to see if he will be a donor.
Corrie boss Kate Brooks has teased Rob’s return could cause trouble for Swarla. She told The Mirror: “There are some things that are going to cause problems for Carla and Lisa, and one very big one in particular. There is a big one… a big Rob Donovan return!
“He comes back to the show and we think he might be a reformed character who has seen the error of his ways, but whether that’s the case or not, I don’t know! He definitely comes back and causes a lot of trouble for Carla and Lisa.”
Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and ITV X.
