Coronation Street viewers are convinced that Leanne Battersby is going to end up pregnant – but that Ryan Connor isn’t the dad
Coronation Street fans are confident that Leanne Battersby is going to be pregnant – but they suspect Ryan Connor isn’t the father.
Leanne, played by Jane Danson, has been a mainstay on the cobbles since 1997, arriving with the the rest of the Battersby family alongside her sister Toyah (Georgia Taylor). Leanne has been involved in a number of major storylines over the years from shocking affairs and sex work to drug abuse. However, the past 12 months has been particularly challenging.
She was deceived and exploited by a cult, The Institute, and its leader Rowan (Emrhys Cooper) back in 2021. She was also left heartbroken after she found out that her sister Toyah had slept with her then-fiancé Nick (Ben Price).
Even though Toyah and Nick ended their relationship when the truth was revealed, they secretly rekindled their romance a few months later, much to Leanne’s dismay. In true soap opera style, Leanne found out and sought revenge.
In an attempt to teach them a lesson, she framed Nick and Toyah for theft. However, her plan backfired, leading to her arrest – with her trial scheduled for this week – and straining her relationship with Nick’s son Sam (Jude Riordan), reports Plymouth Live.
Since then, Leanne has been spiralling, evidently struggling with loneliness as Toyah and Nick carry on as a couple. This week, however, the plot took a dramatic twist when a drunken Leanne made advances towards Ronnie Bailey (Vinta Morgan).
During the most recent episode of Coronation Street which aired on Friday, January 24, a bombshell was dropped as it emerged that Leanne Battersby had slept with Ryan Connor (played by actor Ryan Prescott). And now, the soap’s loyal followers are buzzing with speculation that Leanne might find herself expecting a child.
However, in a startling twist that could send waves through Weatherfield, fans aren’t convinced that Ryan is the father. Viewers are exchanging theories about potential paternity surprises on a popular Corrie Facebook fan page.
One fan posted, “Leanne pregnancy looming then,” igniting agreement from another who commented, “100% calling it.”
The speculation didn’t stop there, with one guessing, “Nick the father then? ” and yet another contemplating if Steve McDonald might be the dad, pondering, “Hear me out but it could be Steve’s? Remember she stopped the night at his recently ‘on the sofa’.”
This hint led to another fan chiming in with, “I forgot about that! ” suggesting that the truth may indeed hold shocking revelations. With Leanne set to reconnect with both Nick and Steve McDonald in the upcoming week, the stage is set for dramatic developments in this tangled web of possible parenthood.
