They were spotted celebrating New Year’s Eve in Weatherfield with a bunch of familiar faces

Coronation Street fans were left pleading to know the identity of a ‘new character’ as they were spotted celebrating New Year’s Eve in Weatherfield.

Viewers of the ITV soap were treated to a rare helping of cobbles action on Tuesday night (December 31) as the residents of the country’s most famous street were seen saying goodbye to 2024 and ringing in a new year.

Dev Alahan, Mary Taylor, Roy Cropper, Evelyn Plummer and Yasmeen Nazir were among those marking the annual occasion in the Rovers Return with landlady Jenny Connor encouraging the countdown before the clock struck midnight.

As the new year began, Corrie fans saw the neighbours celebrating while Toyah Habeeb and Nick Tilsley kissed at one side of the bar while another new couple Carla Connor and DS Lisa Swain embraced and kissed one another at the other.

But as they were all seen wishing each other a Happy New Year, with the scenes playing in slow-mo with Snow Patrol’s ‘You Could Be Happy’ playing in the background, Corrie fans couldn’t help but notice a new face joining in the celebrations.

@vjw79 asked: “Who the hell is next to Dev in the pub please during the countdown?” @KlCKASSCANTONA echoed: “Who was Dev hugging @itvcorrie #corrie.” @MeMyselfOnlin commented: “Watching last night’s #Corrie and have no idea who that’s supposed to be with Dev…”

@jewellerybyailsamatfin shared: “Who on earth is Dev standing with in the pub?” @arc248 replied: “Thank you, I thought it was just me!” @mammamaureen added: “Totally perplexed, who was it?”

Some thought it could be a new face playing Dev’s son, Aadi Alahan, until Corrie experts, the team at the Conversation Street Podcast cleared things up and said: “Prinny, who is an extra on Corrie.”
