Eagle-eyed fans of the ITV soap have found a link between the longest-serving cast member and one of the newer recruits
Eagle-eyed Coronation Street fans have said they are ‘obsessed’ as they spotted a link between DS Lisa Swain and Ken Barlow – and it’s brilliant.
As fans of the ITV soap well know, Ken is a legend of Weatherfield with William (Bill) Roache having been in the role since the very start as he appeared in the first-ever episode of Corrie back in 1960.
He landed the role of Ken shortly after as Tony Warren, who created Coronation Street, saw him in the play and thought he’d be right for the character he had created.
The Nottingham-born actor, who now lives in Cheshire, has been a part of British soap’s most iconic storylines – including his love triangle with Mike Baldwin and Deirdre Barlow that gripped the nation in 1982 and in 2017 was at the centre of a “whodunit” after Ken was pushed down the stairs by an unknown assailant, later confirmed to be his son Daniel Osbourne.
Meanwhile, DS Lisa Swain is much-loved among Corrie fans, with Vicky Myers making her debut in the role back in 2021. Viewers were no stranger to the actress appearing on the cobbles, but her appearances were sporadic.
The detective sergeant was first seen in 2021 when she led the police investigation into the assaults on Nina Lucas and Seb Franklin which led to the latter’s death.
Last year, viewers saw Lisa face backlash from Daisy Midgeley after the police didn’t stop her stalker Justin Rutherford before he launched a horrific acid attack on her wedding day, also hurting and permanently scarring Ryan Connor.
She was then seen hunting down serial killer Stephen Reid back in October, only for him to be ploughed into and killed on the street by Peter Barlow.
But her role has since been made regular and the drama hasn’t stopped for Vicky’s character, first finding herself on and off the case of Joel Deering thanks to the evil solicitor’s involvement with her daughter Betsy and now facing the threat of her partner Carla Connor’s brother, Rob Donovan.

But it appears Corrie fans have found a link between the longest-serving cast member and one of the newer recruits – and that’s their clothing.
Sharing a side-by-side snap of Bill as Ken and Vicky as Lisa, @Cafi2k said on X, formerly known as Twitter: “Obsessed with the itv budget cuts forcing the costume department to make Swain and Kenneth share outfits #corrie.”
And fellow fans were quick to respond. @whereIsCassieP replied: “Howling.” @sophs210 said: “Thought this when I saw him.” @SmilieFlorida added: “[crying laughing emojis] best comment of the night!”
